Hey, I'm currently a junior in high school exploring new careers. I was actually wondering what exactly a PhD in accounting does? The average salary for PhD in accounting? The number of years in order to graduate to get PhD (straight out of HS)?

Also the same for economics, what exactly a PhD in economics does? The average salary for PhD in economics? The number of years in order to graduate to get PhD (straight out of HS)?

And lastly, is there any program out there that offers guaranteed admission to PhD program in accounting/economics for high schoolers?

Bump
can some1 respond? :(

most people who major in accounting do not get a PhD, they aim for a CPA.People who aim for a PhD in economics want to do quat. analysis or research. the way most PhD programs work is, you first apply to an undergraduate program. Go to undergraduate for 4 years, apply for graduate, go to graduate for 2 years, and then apply to a PhD program. Some graduates have joint PhD program along with your masters. I have never heard anyone go from high school to a PhD program unless they are an exceptional genius who could have went to college when they were 12 years old.

if you want to check salary, google payscale or any salary website

commentcomment,
thank you for your response. I wasn’t saying to go directly to the PhD program. I was saying like a 4 (For Bachelors)+4 (masters, phd, etc) program. They basically guarantee you into this program as long as you keep up a good GPA. Is there anything like this?

Do you know exactly how long it will take me to get my PhD ((straight out of HS)?

if you go directly from high school to college and graduate, you will be around 28-30 after receiving your PhD assuming you are qualified and enter a special joint program. In most top PhD programs, the average student age is 30-33. It is very rare to finish a PhD program under 3 years. If you are the average student, expect to go through a 5 year cycle for your PhD depending on what your focus is.

getting a PhD is more than just a good GPA. you must prove you are an expert in the subject.

Just FYI you don’t need a masters to apply for a PhD program. Most PhD programs will take you straight out of undergrad
