Is it acceptable to include an article that you were in as a supplement for applications? I was in the New York Times for music in 2010. Is it better to not include a supplement?

Here's the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/31/arts/music/31salome.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

One of the reasons I'm hesitant to use it is because the genre of music is metal, and I do very harsh vocals.

Thanks so much,

That is something extremely unique! I would def send it in!

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m just a little afraid that colleges are going to find my music online, and then deny me admittance because of how extreme it is.

I should also mention that I’m a premed bio major, so it’s not connected to my educational path at all - not a music major.

How extreme are we talking? As long as its not like “I’m going to kill everyone” or something super duper demonic, I think you are find. It is something that will help you stand out from the rest of the applicants.

However, the lyrics aren’t violent in any way.

I would add it because it’s pretty cool. But, you can go based off of how you think your chances are of getting into the college that the supplement is for. If you think your in, maybe don’t send it if you don’t feel comfortable. If its iffy, then send it

Thanks so much for your response. I’ve been super stressed about my applications, and it always helps to have another opinion.
