Need opinions on Senior schedule

Hey guys,

I'm a rising senior and I'm having trouble deciding my classes for next year. Here are my options:

Schedule 1 (really really unlikely):
AP Biology
AP Spanish Language
AP U.S Gov/Honors Econ
AP English Literature
AP Statistics

Schedule 2:
Honors Physics
AP Spanish Language
Honors U.S Gov/Hon Econ
AP English Literature
Pre-Calc/Calc 1 (dual enrollment)

Schedule 3:
Honors Physics
AP Spanish Lang
Honors Gov/Hon Econ
Honors English IV
Pre-Calc/Calc 1 (dual enrollment)

I'm thinking about just doing Schedule 3 and if I feel it's necessary, taking the AP exams at the end of the year anyway.

BOTH Honors AND AP Courses as well as Dual Enrollment courses at my school are worth 5.0. So seeing as I could have a 5.0 if I made straight A's if I just took all honors, should I do that? Or should I risk lowering my GPA and going full-blown APs? (I'm eligible for 5 APs, but my mom doesn't want me to have such a stressful senior year)

I live in Florida and I'm going to apply to UF, FSU, University of South Carolina Columbia, and UMass, UConn, and Stony Brook. Maybe Johns Hopkins instead of UMass, but I doubt it because I'm not so strong in math (fine in science) although I want to go on the Pre-Med track.

I've taken Honors Chem, Honors Bio, and Honors Anatomy & Physiology. I heard that for Pre-Med, it's really recommended to take Physics, so that's why I'm kind of leaning more toward Honors Physics (could never do AP Physics) over AP Bio. Can't decide though.

Including every class I've ever taken, P.E and religious courses (ew), I'll have a 3.7 unweighted and 4.1ish weighted (probably higher) including senior year if I make straight A's. So I don't really want to take the risk of having all APs when I could have a 5.0 GPA with all honors

and does anyone know if any of those schools DOESN'T recalculate GPA and just takes it as my school reports it?

What do you guys think?
Thanks

Brooke

I like schedule 2 with AP US gov instead of H Gov.

Have you taken AP US Gov? Because I’m trying to decide whether or not I should take it. I looked at review books for it and it sounds AWFUL so that’s why I don’t really want to take it lol. I took AP European History and found all the info too overwhelming and boring and I don’t want to go through that again for an AP Exam lol.

Yeah, don’t go for an AP History class if you don’t like history… I made that mistake… I think Schedule 3 is fine…

I like schedule 2.

Schedule 2 and take AP Gov. Government is hardly considered history. You just learn the levels and tasks of the government. That’s it.

Thanks guys! But I mean, if I decided on schedule 3 and just took the AP exams at the end of the year, would colleges still look at that as favorably as if I had taken the AP class? I took AP Euro this year and have a real ******* for a teacher who, for some reason, doesn’t like me and won’t give me an A in his class for anything, no matter how HARD I work (he has favorites and gives them A’s, so it’s not that his class is just unreasonably hard or anything like that) and he’s giving us a final. I mean what the hell? He randomly told us this like 2 days ago. He’s the type that likes messing with students’ grades because it gives him a purpose in life. I just don’t want to deal with those teachers who think that AP students are haughty jerks and therefore take advantage of them every which way they can. I literally had to self-study AP Euro because he taught us nothing and the ONLY grades we got for his class were DBQs (no tests or quizzes or homework or ANYTHING). I’d like to get A’s next year, lol so that my GPA can be a 3.7 when I graduate

Any thoughts?? Thanks! I really need some opinions because my guidance counselor is really really bad. He has never even heard of the “Real” ACT prep book. Sad.

Thank God I’m going to a new school next year!!!

If I was a adcom, I would consider the actual AP course more rigorous than taking the honors class and taking the exam at the end of the year.

You’re going to a new school. Just take the class. What’s the worst that could happen? Look on RateMyTeacher if you’re that worried.

The AP exam pass rate for AP English Lit, for example, is 53%…and Gov is like 30%

Government has a higher pass rate than that. Either way you shouldn’t rely on pass rates to determine if you’ll pass or not. You determine your success. If you go into a class thinking, “This is really hard stuff. How am I going to pass this exam?”…well, you’re going to have a bad time.

Lol, Niquii, I’m talking about the AP pass rate for AP English Lit and Gov in my new school…
and I’m optimistic I just don’t want to end up with a bad teacher and end up having to teach it all to myself. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for lol

Oh, I thought you were talkin about the national pass rate…:p

Well…good luck man. 30% is a suckish rating…actually no. That is a bad pass rating. Say you have a class of 20…and 6 pass…o.O
