I'm chemical engineering with math and com sci minor. It's the com sci minor that's in question.

My future field of study/research will probably have nothing in common with programming. I kind of like com sci, but it take up a lot of time.

I asked my adviser about this. She said having a com sci minor would make me "stand out." I doubt it.

I need 6 com sci courses, 3 of which could be used as electives, which is convenient. I've only completed 1 course :(. I'm about to start my second. So before I reach the point of no return, I need some more opinions

P.S. I want to graduate at least a semester early. 6 courses is a lot to me because I plan to make my schedules very compact throughout the years.

There’s no point of no return. That’s silly. I would encourage you to keep taking computer science courses as long as you enjoy them because basic programming skills are incredibly useful. If you complete the minor, great. If you fall short of the six required courses, you still know how to write a decent computer program. As far as I can see you have nothing to lose here.

You never know what the future holds. The programming books for chemical engineers were written for a reason.
