I am an international student from Indonesia looking to apply as an undergraduate in the US.

Little backstory:
Since grade 9, I’ve always wanted to study medicine in my home country (medical school is a bachelor’s here). However, it was in my senior year that I realized I wouldn’t be happy studying there and changed plans to go to the US instead.

Current status:
I am now taking a gap year to: 1) Find out what I really want. 2) Take a break before jumping in into a hectic college schedule. 3) Spend time on other interests. I have decided to take a major in biomedical engineering* in the US. I will be applying as an undergraduate for fall 2015.
*biomedical engineering is almost unheard of here

Academics:

1st SAT: December 2013 (cause i needed to take SAT to get my HS diploma). Got a 1930. [Math=640, CR=630, Writing=660]

TOEFL iBT: 108

Will be retaking the SAT on October 2014, as well as Physics and Math Level 2 subject tests. Aiming for 2100+ on my SAT Reasoning and 700+ on my subject tests.

My HS is a private, classical school in Indonesia. It’s a small school. We don’t get to choose our classes, and it doesn’t offer any honor classes.

English (4 years)
Literature (4 years)
Humanities (4 years)
Mathematics (4 years)
Chemistry (4 years)
Biology (4 years)
Physics (4 years)
Indonesian Civics (4 years)
Bahasa Indonesia (4 years)
Bible (4 years)
Traditional Logic (2 years)
Performing Arts (3 years)
Latin (2 years)
Personal Finance (1 year)
Economics (1 year)

Never got a C in my report cards. I graduated (from a batch of 17) with a magna cum laude, a GPA of 3.73, and as the valedictorian. Definitely the top student in my class.

Extra Curricular, Volunteer Works & Awards:

Vice-President of the Audio Visual Club (one of the few 100% student-run AV clubs in Indonesia)
President of Sports Week (the first female president; managed the sports activities of 400 students)
Secretary of school cup (held annually where my school invites other schools to compete in competitions)
Student Committee in Science Fair (the only student committee)
Mission Trip to North Sumatra (10th grade)
Mission Trip to Central Java (11th grade)
Participated in a International Law Moot Court competition for HS students twice (10th & 11th grade)
Mentored for the same competition as above (12th grade) ^
Director of AV in several school events
Won an award of 2nd highest GPA in HS (11th grade)
Attended a 10-day Medicine & Healthcare program from People to People Leadership Ambassador Program in JHU

Prospective Colleges:

Caltech
UCI
UCSD
Georgia Tech
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
PennState
Stanford
UPenn
University of Washington
University of Texas

I will not need financial aid.

What do you think are my chances of being accepted?

Upenn is a reach because first, it’s a reach for everyone and second, the SAT is lower than average.

Except U of Washington(generous for OOS), I think you need to reconsider applying to JHU, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon ,Cornell, and UC schools because the GPA is low for applying there

Please note most Medical Schools in the Usa don’t accept international students and there is no financial aid either, you can’t even borrow money to attend. You have to deposit money in an escrow account often times in 100’s thousands dollars before matriculation.
