Though west of that big river, Trinity University in San Antonio is a FAFSA only school, genreous w/merit aid, and I believe meets an average of 92% of need, but average doesn’t help in a specific case. Almost all aid a student gets there, merit OR need, goes with the student for study abroad, not true at some schools. avg. SAT ~1300/1600, this year’s COA ~$40, 600. Lots of bang for the buck, IMO.

Thanks, that’s a well-ranked school!

In the PNW (I know, not your preferred region), Univ of Portland and Willamette (in Salem, Oregon) are both FAFSA only privates, and both offer fairly generous merit aid AND meet over 90% of need, on average. Our daughter applied to both; Willamette had a slightly better offer, but she ended up at UP. Cost of either was on par with what we would have paid at an in-State UC.

College Board has the stats on financial aid averages that can help you narrow your search.

I remember seeing a friend’s packages several years ago, Pell eligible and Baylor was as good as any of the other schools

sblake…

thanks…it’s ok if it’s outside of the preferred region. They now understand that these FAFSA only schools that give a lot of aid without NCP info are not common. :)

somemom… are you saying that Baylor doesn’t require NCP info?
