Im an international student interested in applient to Lafayette.Just neede some reassurane that i'll get in. My Sat score is 750 in Maths and 700 in both the english sections. I plan to give my SAT2(maths level2,chemistry,physics) in Jan. I have decent extra curriculars and can right a very good essay. Apart from geting in ill need financial aid which should cover almost all my expenses because i cant pay much. So do i have a chance. Help me out here please!

This is what Lafayette has to say about international applicants and financial aid:

"Is admission need-blind for foreign students?

No. However, if accepted, the College will meet your demonstrated need, up to and including, full tuition, room and board, books, and supplies."

So, your financial needs will be taken under advisement when your application is considered. I guess it will all come down to how you stack up against the other internationals who are applying who are also seeking a considerable amount of aid. Lafayette does like to admit a diverse international class so if you are from a country that rarely, if ever, sends students to the college you might stand a better chance than someone with an equally strong application from a country that is already well represented.

Lafayette accepts so many international kids but the yield is really low. If you really like Lafayette and think you are a good fit I recommend you to apply ED. That assures college that you will come here.
Otherwise, in RD, chances of you being accepted is really low, cuz college will think that you will probably go elsewhere (thereby decreasing yield and affecting its rankings).

If you get accepted , you don’t have to worry at all about fin. aid. A friend of mine pays (nearly)nothing out of his pocket. Nevertheless, he has 3500 loan every year and about 3000 as work study.(work study is just your pocket money, more you work more there will be for you to spend)

bump…

did you apply early decision?

No i plan to apply regular decission but i have shown interest in the college by emailing them many times

i need advice reply pls.

what do you mean advice? how would anyone here be able to tell you whether or not you will get in? That does not classify as advice

Your SATs are competitive. All one can say is your chance is 0 if you don’t apply. All these chance threads on CC really don’t mean a thing - whether someone thinks you’ll get in or not has very limited predictive value.

I have deceided to apply early decision

That’s a smart choice if you ask me. I did that and got in. But its not 100% sure . Although it increases your chance a lot!! Keep us updated.

Mohak what were ur stats?
