Planning to visit and wondering if anyone has recommendation on hotels.

We really need to have a pinned thread on this and restaurants, tours, etc. since naturally it comes up all the time. Tulane has a web page on this, for starters. [Tulane Admission: Where to Stay](http://admission.tulane.edu/visit/stay.php) I have stayed at the Hampton Inn mentioned there, and along with that Best Western (they are very close together) the streetcar runs right in front of it. Also located about halfway between campus and downtown, so convenient for both. Also walkable to Magazine Street, and looking around the Garden District which is great.

Others have mentioned places where they have gotten good prices and service, and I am sure will chime back in. Here is the one for restaurants, although of course there are many more excellent ones. [Tulane Admission: Where to Eat](http://admission.tulane.edu/visit/eat.php)

My family and I stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast right next to Audubon Park. It’s called Park View Guest House and had complimentary breakfast which was AMAZING! They also had free wine for the adults in the afternoon and cookies and soda.

Now that you mention it, I am kind of surprised they don’t have the Park View on the list. It was on the old admissions site before they revamped it this year. Maybe they couldn’t work out a Tulane rate? Or maybe an oversight. Either way, the reviews have always been very good.

Our favorite is the Park View. As an added bonus, S2’s apartment is just a block away. He spent fall semester abroad, it is nice he will be back on campus so we can have a reason to visit NOLA!

If you do stay at the Hampton Inn do yourself a favor and eat breakfast at the Fat Hen not far away on St. Charles.

If you are looking to spend a few days exploring NOLA and want to stay near the French Quarter (about 20 minute cab ride to Tulane), we stayed at the Roosevelt. It is a Waldorf Astoria, so probably more pricey than a B&B. We stayed 4 days in April for under $200/night which was a special “Tulane rate”. The hotel is beautiful, great location for touring NOLA and has a very nice outdoor pool (great for relaxing after a long day of touring). It is very close to Bourbon Street, just across Canal Street.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in the Garden District. Worked out perfectly for us (just visiting the college, not otherwise sightseeing - French Quarter).

We here in the admission office have a few main partnership hotels that offer great rates for you if you mention upon calling that you are visiting Tulane.

International House- Our top pick, it is the premier boutique hotel in NOLA and is right off the streetcar line. It is downtown, but just a few blocks removed from the bustle of the Quarter. [International House Hotel - New Orleans Boutique Hotel](http://www.ihhotel.com/)

Royal Sonesta- Smack in the middle of the Quarter, if that is what you are looking for. Beautiful, traditional NOLA hotel. [Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans - New Orleans, LA - French Quarter hotel](http://www.sonesta.com/royalneworleans/)

Hotel Indigo- Just opened this month right on St. Charles on the streetcar line in the Garden District. Great hotel super convenient for visiting Tulane. [Find Boutique Hotels & Book Your Stay | Hotel Indigo](http://www.hotelindigo.com/)

We also recommend the Iberville Suites, the Hyatt and the Hampton Inn St. Charles.

Let us know if we can help plan your visit, the admission staff all have their favorite hotels, restaurants and things to do around town.

Thanks for all the suggestions! working through details on dates etc…

2asmom, the first weekend we went down to NOLA all the hotels on St Charles were full and there were only very expensive rooms available in the French Quarter (a few major events were going on). We ended up renting a car and staying in Metairie. There are several nice hotels there, and it is not a bad drive to Tulane.
It is also nice to visit Metairie during move-in week because there is a mall, a Bed Bath and Beyond, and a Target for dorm room shopping.

Since I’m traveling alone with my son, the B&Bs aren’t really an option (one King bed or two tiny twin beds) so I opted for the Hampton Inn based on recommendations here. They also have a Tulane discount.

So excited about our mid-January visit!!

Hampton Inn St. Charles has been great (we’re leaving today… The only bad thing is that right now the streetcar is not going all the way downtown, so we didn’t get to the French Quarter much. Still, there’s been a lot to see in the Garden District and farther down around Carrollton, all on the streetcar line.

But when we come down for orientation I will probably stay at the Park View. I think they also have bikes so you can ride around the park! I’m looking forward to many more NOLA visits. And JEFF… we loved your presentation on Friday!

^ like like like! Glad you had a great trip.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza on Canal and Bourbon. Like marvitale said, the street cars were not operating this weekend to the downtown area. We ended up taking the bus to Tulane. Really easy trip, but not as cool as the streetcar might have been! ; ) Loved the location as it was a walk to the French Quarter and about 30 minutes to Tulane (many stops, but great to absorb the scenery on the way.) When we go back in March, we will probably stay closer to Tulane.

Frequent NOLA visitor ( and Tulane Alum) -
We stayed a few times at the Iberville Suites and really liked the location (in the quarter but quiet, close to Bourbon Street with out being in the fray). I was looking into lodging for an up coming trip and it seems to now be a Courtyard by Marriott (Courtyard Downtown/Iberville). Just in case anyone was trying to find this place!

Also like the Park View, the St Charles Hampton Inn as well as the Maison St. Charles.
