Need Sat/act Help Please!!!

Alright! I've taken both the SAT and ACT. As a sophmore i got a 28 on the ACT and as a junior I got a 610 verbal and 680 math and writing doesn't matter right now. I took both tests with little or no preparation... just couldn't bring myself to sit down and "study" the SAT/ACT. I'm shooting for a school like Duke...etc??? But would be happy too with a college like the College of William and Mary if I fall short. I'm currently a junior and my ACT is the better score but I know I can better both scores. I just don't know which one to take. Should I take both again? BTW, this time I will be studying beforehand a whole lot more. Also, does anyone know of a good SAT/ACT test prep book that helps verbal/writing tremendously? I have math down, now for the english...

no help? come on! i need some replies!

As I'm a junior too, I don't really know much. I took the ACT last year and it's a lot faster paced than the SAT. People also claim that it is more straight forward. The SAT is slower paced but the questions are less straight forward. Most people at my school like the ACT more, but I personally like the SAT more. So it really just depends what you are good at. It probably wouldn't hurt to take both to see which one you are better at. Or else you can take practice tests on both and decide.

Plan ahead. Work on 1 subject at a time and space out your SAT and SAT IIs. You should do fine. Since you already took it once and didnt do so great it is a lil difficult. Best would be like first time focus on Writing, second on Math and last time on CR. Meanwhile take SATIIs and make sure you dont take more than 1 on a date.

Never took ACT so i cant help you with it. But from your scores your are not a genius test taker so i would focus on either the ACT or the SAT. Probably the SAT since you have to send the score one way or another.
