Need serious advice..A&M or UT?

Hello guys! First off this is my first time posting something on here! Second, I’m so confused idk what to even do… Turns out Texas A&M(Main Campus) rejected me but offered me the PSA Program(which they offer to about 40% of rejected students) which is basically going into another Texas A&M school for a year, do good, then transfer to the main campus. But I’m so scared to take that option cause none of the other A&M schools offer the major I want except for the main campus . What if I don’t do good? I’ll be stuck in that campus without getting the major I want. Also UT Austin was my first choice but I doubt I’ll get in, however, I was thinking of going to UTSA then transferring after 2 years(u can’t transfer earlier in this uni system) to UT Austin. At UTSA they have a similar major from the one I want so there’s some safety there, but at the same time I don’t want to transfer after such a long time cause its like starting all over again at a different campus, and I’d have less time to meet ppl and really get to know the school etc… I really need some advice, so I’ll be sincerely happy and glad if anyone could help me out…

Well UT does cap which is very similar to PSA at A&M so I’d wait until all options are presented

Since fewer than half of students in either the CAP or PSA programs ever actually transfer to the flagship campus, you should carefully consider the pros and cons of the campus in which you initially enroll. UTSA is by far the most popular of the CAP/PSA options at my kids’ HS and it sounds like you think it might be a good option for you, as well. Remember that a lot of kids in the CAP/PSA programs find they are happy at their initial campuses and opt not to transfer when that time comes. If offered, it sounds like the CAP option at UTSA would provide you with a suitable starting point with the guaranteed the option to transfer to Austin after your first year if you still want to do that.

Does the University of Houston offer your major? There are a lot of good things going on there and it can be a good choice for kids who didn’t quite make full admission at UT or A&M. They also can be fairly generous with merit aid to students outside of the top 10 percent of their class rank. It might be worth a look.

Sorry for not replying earlier but I wanted to wait for all options to be presented like Machovich said, and just like I got the PSA option with A&M I got CAP’ed by UT. My intended major is International Relations/Global Studies and unfortunetely the University of Houston does not offer it

However UTSA does offer Global Studies so in case I don’t meet the CAP requirements I can stay in that campus and major in that. I’m pretty set on my decision now, so thank you both for answering!!!
