I am a British student. Excellent in school as a kid. Did so-so for my GCSE O Level. Spoiled as a teen. After my O Level I got into a Diploma for Mechanical Engineering where I graduated with really poor results. It was then that I decided to be serious. I enrolled in an American Degree Transfer Program; it’s a 2-year college after which you transfer to a uni.
I am doing really well here. In my third semester now and GPA is about 3.7. By the time I transfer (after 5 sems), expected GPA is 3.8+. Intended major is of course Mechanican Engg. I will take SAT I and II and I know I’ll do quite well because I’ve been doing practice tests and reading SAT books. My aim is 2100+ for SAT I and 780-790 for SAT II Math and Physics.
I would LOVE, LOVE to apply to Penn for Engineering; that’s where I need serious advising - is it too ridiculous for me to do that? My other options are McGill uni (my dream) and UC Berkeley.
I know Ivy Leagues are more than just hard to get into, ESPECIALLY as a transfer, but given a 3.8+ GPA and my SAT scores, can I try Penn? What could my other options be? Thank you very much.
Does your college not have transfer advising? Wait, are you sure you need to take the SAT now as a Jr transfer? The SAT is intended for HS students to take, not college students.
I don’t know what kind of diploma for ME, I take it that is or is not college? Confusing that then you go to a college. So I don’t understand where you stand as to prerequisites. Penn only takes about 200 out of 2000 students for transfer so less than 50 in all SEAS. This may be obvi but did you look at the requirements for transfer into SEAS? See this booklet page 4. If you have those classes done then sure, you can apply.

My bad, it’s an American High School Diploma. And my Mech Engg diploma I did from Singapore Polytechnic (quite renowned over there) since we were living there at that time. Thanks for your reply tho
Edit: I made this profile because I previously signed in using facebook and it used my real name and picture - kinda concerned about my privacy.
Cal, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Cornell are some of the larger engineering schools accepting many transfer students and have top ME programs. Penn is ranked below all of those. The number of engineering students at these schools is quite large so more transfers are accepted. Some have dedicated spots for 2 yr/ community college students. McGill has an excellent reputation in Canada but is not known as a top engineering school.
