Need some advice about which college to attend.

I am not sure where to post this, hopefully its in the right section.
I got accepted to CSUN as well as UCSD and UCI, still waiting on Berkeley but not a very high chance of getting into it. I am debating of going to CSUN which is local, versus going to UCSD for which I would probably have to live in a dorm or get a roommate. I get the full cal grant and pell grant, and for UCSD by their estimates I need about $9000/year and for CSUN I need about $2000 per year or so. I plan on just getting a bachelors in computer science and am not really sure whether I should just go to CSUN or head to UCSD. UCSD said that the CS major was currently full so they put me as undeclared but no biggie for first year. Just not sure if the extra money and trouble is worth UCSD, maybe the experience would be different but I don't know.

I say go to UCSD if you don’t mind being undeclared. But how good is CSUN’s Comp. Science program?

I’m a firm believer that kids should attend school away from home, even if it’s only 3-4 hours away… go to UCSD. It’s a great school; I have 1 neice and 2 nephews that have graduated from there.

UCSD is in a beautiful area. I would have loved to go to UCSD, unfortunately my grades weren’t that high during high school. Only thing is I keep on hearing that UCSD has no social life. I’m not so sure how true that is, but UCSD is more of a science/math school, if that makes any sense. CSUN? I applied there also, beautiful campus too. I have no idea how good their Comp. Science department is. Anyway, back to your question. It seems like CSUN is the cheaper option, you’ll be living at home since your a local, so you won’t get the whole “college dorm” experience. Is that something you would want? If so I’d say go to UCSD. San Diego is only 3 hours away, so you could go home pretty much anytime you want (mostly weekends I’m assuming).
