Hey everyone I was wondering if you guys could help me decide which two or possibly three SAT II's to take. I'm taking AP United States History, AP Bio, AP Chem, and BC Calc this year. That being said the four tests I'm thinking about doing are math II, bio (M), chem, and history. I'm on spring break from now till april 14th and have time to study for any of those exams. Also I'm taking the AP's for all the exams. I was wondering which two or three it would be easiest to prepare for in a month and get 800s on. I have an A in all four of those classes if that helps. Thanks!!

Unfortunately, of the tests you’ve mentioned I’ve only taken US History (and didn’t do so great, though I’m not a “history person”)
It really depends on where your strengths lie. You know whether you’re better at calculating, memorizing dates, etc. Everyone is different - show off the skills you’ve mastered

The history, math, and science route is usually best for subject tests, so take three of them. Since you have two sciences to choose from, decide which one you enjoy learning about more, or understand better, and take that one. Also, be aware that engineering programs sometimes require that you take either Chemistry or Physics along with Math II, so if you are planning on engineering, it might be a better idea to take Chemistry.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I’m going to take Chemistry and Biology. I was wondering if the SAT II’s go as in depth with Chemistry and Biology as the AP exams do. If not will studying for the AP exams get me sufficiently prepared to get 800s on both chem and bio?

I have taken both the bio and chem SAT II’s and the knowledge required is pretty rudimentary. If you’ve taken AP chem and bio just a small amount of studying should suffice. I took the chem SAT II with absolutely no prep a year after I had taken AP chem and got a 740 if that says anything about them.

for sciences, AP is more understanding & connecting information, SAT is just knowing it independently. SAT should be easier.

Thanks a lot spunaugle that puts it in perspective for me. I’ll definately take chem and bio in may. If I’m taking Bio M do I still need to learn all the random ecology crap or no?

I found that the math II was pretty easy to study for within a week’s worth of time. Since you seem to be doing well in BC calc, I’d advise taking the math II because it’s not difficult to study for and the curve is extremely kind. Plus, you don’t have to take it later if you spontaneously decide you want to apply to engineering schools. Good luck!

anything u think ull get a 5 in, you should take.

taking more than a total of more than 3 SAT IIs is a waste.

don’t expect to get 800s.

and i’d def. take math (demonstrate competency, everyone likes it) and one more of your choosing. I took USH and math II and got 770s on both. huge history person, not a big math person

You’ll have to know less eco stuff, but some of it is still integrated in the general questions. None of it too difficult though.

getting 800 isn’t impossible.

i did ap chem…and just studying for ap chem test
and doing 1-2 sat II chem practice tests got me 800

granted, i got 5 on ap exam as well
