So I would like to explain my story.
As a Junior, in my APUSH class, we have daily quizzes(small point quizzes). During the school year, my friend from a previous period texted me the answers to the quiz. As I sat down at my desk, I looked at the text one last time and quickly put my phone away, before the quiz or bell for class to start rang. My teacher saw me using my phone and demanded that I show him my phone. I showed him my phone and he went through all my texts and saw the one I had with my friend. He decided to give me a zero on my quiz and report me to the Assistant Principal.

When I visited him at lunch, my friend and I both apologized and told him that we made a stupid mistake. He told me and my friend that he was proud of us for coming to him even though he didn't ask us to, and admitting our mistakes. He had informed us that he had already reported us to the Assistant Principal and that our "fate was in his hands."

So my friend and I decided to go and talk with the Assistant Principal the next morning(he leaves by lunch time so we didn't get to talk to him the day off) during the break time while he was walking around in the school. We both went to the Assistant Principal and told him our names and why we were there to see him. He told us to explain the situation and we honestly told him, which he was happy with. We then told him that we made a mistake and it will never happen again. He then asked us whether this was our first time getting caught, and we responded yes. Then he said, "Guys look. you two look like good kids and I don't want to punish you just as much as you don't want to be punished. Ill tell you what, we will make this a warning, I will just call you guys to my office, we will talk, and I will let you go." We thanks him sincerely and he told us, "Don't let it happen again, this time it will just go on your disciplinary record." I did not know what this meant so I asked him what it meant and he said that, "No colleges will ever know about it but if you do it again I will be forced to inform the colleges you apply to about this" We thanked him and left.

He never called us in for a meeting and never gave us detention or anything and I am not sure if he even put it into my disciplinary record. However, I am wondering with the situation that I just explained how would I find out whether or not my Assistant Principal put it in my Disciplinary Record or not? If he did report it into my Disciplinary Record, will colleges that I apply to see it?

I understand that I have made a mistake and for the last couple months this situation has been a big burden on me which I have brought upon myself. My biggest concern is whether or not my Counselor will put this on the Secondary School Report. I have only had one detention my whole high school career(for wearing a t-shirt with a toy gun on it) and I have never caused trouble in or out of school. I understand that my Counselor does write a letter to all the private colleges that I am applying to. If this whole incident did in fact go into my Disciplinary Record, will the Counselor mention it?

I would really be thankful for any feedback that I could get regarding my post. Thank you to all who spent their time reading and/or replying to my post.

P.S. When my Assistant Principal told me and my parents that no colleges will ever know about this, did he mean that He wouldn't tell them but it is somewhere in my record or that the incident is completely off the records?
