So I took my last final the other day, and the room wasn't big enough to let people sit one seat apart, so there were some people sitting right next to each other. It so happens that I was between two people. Sometime during the test I noticed one of the guys sitting beside me was glancing in my direction often. Not unusual I suppose, but then it soon became clear that he was trying to cheat off me, because he was writing only when I was. I stopped for a good 5-10 minutes thinking about a question and I noticed he wasn't writing anything. I also happened to glance at his paper once, and he had almost the exact things I wrote, confirming my suspicion.
Now it makes me mad that someone would use me like that. Question is, should I tell the professor about this?

Don't be a loser, who cares if they cheated. It's not like you are getting in trouble so why gives a crap? Jeeze. You honestly wouldn't have a problem messing up someone's entire academic career?

wow..... so tattle tails do exist still. Huh. Well whenever i see someone cheating off me i encourage it. If someone else can benefit off of my hard work too, that makes it even more worthwhile.

yeah! i'd tell him.
i'm sure your school takes academic integrity very seriously. you're being cheated by doing hard work and not receiving proper respect or credit for it (what if your prof curves the test grades, and your score would have gone up were it not for the average score being higher thanks to the cheaters stealing your correct answers?), and the students cheating off of you are just blowing their parents' money on a college education they're not actually benefiting from. when they graduate, they'll have a degree that they essentially did not earn.

you're being screwed over, the students cheating are being screwed, the cheaters' parents/scholarship awarders/the government is being screwed, and the prof as well as her future classes are being screwed. if students are scoring better than her teaching style or curriculum warrants, shouldn't the prof realize this and adjust accordingly?

Don't think of it as him cheating off of you. Think of it as you helping him pass this class. Don't be a snitch. Snitches suck balls.

lol He probably had a different version of the test lol.

don't be peer pressured into not doing the right thing. this isn't high school

everybody loses when people cheat.

Everybody takes the same test, so no we don't
There seems to be a lot of mixed views about this.

Yeah, some of us aren't deusch bags. How would you not care by ruining an academic career like that? Why is it such a big deal to you? LAC don't act like it is some high and almighty thing he would be doing by looking out because 'hes wasting his money'. It almost makes me sick, I couldn't imagine doing that to somebody.

Wow, I never would have thought that people would actually call you a loser for being concerned.

If you are really troubled, I would suggest you go talk to the professor. It is not fair that your hard work be taken and passed off as someone else's.

Georganne, how does it effect you if someone "uses your work" boohoo, unless you are going to get in trouble then there's no reason to turn them in.

Do me a favor and call in your friends to the police next time you see them speeding. That is looking out for everyone, I mean not only are they risking their own lives, they are putting your life at stake!

Are you kidding me? If you had studied for hours to get a good grade and someone who didn't give a lick about anything decided it would just be easier to cheat, then I'm sure you would be "boo-hoo"ing as well.

I find it funny that you are being so defensive. Do you cheat?

hell yes i cheat, and people cheat off of me. If i study for 2 hours, then i prefer that people would cheat off me so that my hard work can be spread around and benefit everyone around me. Are you all really so competative and selfish that you'de do that to someone just because they don't know an answer and would like your help in not failing a test? You know what, we should give the death penalty for cheaters! how dare they!

Are you at all worried that the graders might notice two almost-identical tests? It sounds to me as if you could be acused of cheating if you do not inform someone about what happened. You owe this cheater nothing, and what he did could cause you serious problems.

I don't have to cheat, but I don't care when someone cheats off of me. To be honest I have no problem if someone wants to look off my paper because for 1. it shows they think i know my stuff and 2. it isn't hurting me.
I studied, I know my stuff.. I'm there to learn and I don't care what other people there are doing around me.

yo burgler, you in college?

yes, class of 2010

I wouldnt tell the prof. Yeah, that person is probably an %*&$^ for cheating off you, since you spent the night before studying, while that person partied.

You may not even need to snitch, the prof may notice the similarities between the papers and call you into his/her office.

But seriously, dont snitch, it can get you kicked out of college. If it makes you feel better, that person will be totally clueless about the subject when dealing with it in the real world.

If we studied for the same amount of time, maybe I'd let it go. If they got to go out to a bar and party during the time I was preparing for the test, I'd be a little more upset.

Or I'd write down the wrong answers and change them before I turned in the test.

hahah, don't worry, majority of people are down to earth when you get to college.
