Hello!
I was recently admitted to Jacobs University Bremen and WPI in the US. I applied as an undergrad to the EE program in both. Now I know that WPI has a better reputation and that Jacobs is still relatively new but I’m having trouble deciding between the two.
On the academics side I’m leaning towards WPI since I like their practical approach better. Though the Jacobs program is certainly no slouch as well.
Financially I received aid from both colleges but for Jacobs I’ll have to pay $12k per year for tuition and room and board. On the other hand WPI is definitely more expensive and I’ll have to pay $35k. For WPI, I’ll deifinietl have to convince my parents to get a loan since it’s about 15k over our budget.
So here’s the question which I’m sure many of you will already have figured out. Is WPI worth getting a loan and potentially getting into debt? Or should I just take the much more attractive(financially) option and go to Jacobs?
Note: I am an international student and am neither a resident of the US or any European Nation
*definitely . Sorry for the typo
If you want to work in the U.S. after you graduate, choose WPI. That’s probably the best choice anyway, even with the loan.
@Planner. Thanks ! I’m not 100% sure yet on where I might want to work later on but I definitely don’t want to leave the US out of consideration there.
