Need some advice on finalizing schools list

Some basics

GPA: 4.1(w)
SAT: 2090 Math 730 CR 640 WR 720 (retaking)
SAT II (710 Math IIC, 680 US history) need to take 1 more

probably am going to major in engineering / business not sure on my career choice yet, but am probably going to apply to schools strong in this area. I might also consider medicine because it interests me although i havent taken AP Bio or Chem at my school.

I live in michigan so im considering applying to these colleges. I like University of Michigan and im going to apply early so i get my results early if i need to apply to any other safeties. So its basically my safety for now. I’ll probably end up going there if i dont get into my reaches?

University of Michigan

Stanford

MIT

Duke(how are the engineering/business programs here)

Harvard

Princeton

University of Pennsylvania

Washington University in St. Louis

Urbana Champaign

University of Chicago(does this place give any scholarships… i hear its very expensive)

?

But, again im very unsure of my major. My parents want me to go into engineering, but i dont think i feel the same way. I would love to hear of other colleges that offer a wide amount of career choices, but please no Liberal arts colleges.

2-8 + U of Chicago seem to be reaches in varying degrees.
What is your unweighted GPA and where do you rank (if school does not rank approx %)?
Michigan looks pretty good if your Michigan GPA is in their average since you are in-state.
You might want to add several matches to give you a more balanced selection.

Your list seems to be top heavy with reach schools as well as schools that don't offer UG Business and/or Engineering. Your list follows:

University of Michigan

Stanford No UG Business

MIT

Duke No UG Business

Harvard No UG Business or Engineering

Princeton No UG Business

University of Pennsylvania

Washington University in St. Louis

Urbana Champaign

University of Chicago No UG Business or Engineering

So if Business and Engineering are your majors why apply to either Harvard or U Chicago at all. Neither school offers your major. Plus yur only safety schools are U Michigan and U Illinois. If you are in-state in either of those choices you are in good shape. You might want to consider schools where you would match a little better than your list above.

Stanford, Harvard, Duke, Princeton - none of these schools have UG business schools, but when it comes to business I would not look past any of them

Stanford, Duke, and Pton all have strong engineering programs at the undergrad level as well, and its fairly easy to add an econ minor between programs (though I don't know how it would be to add a engineering minor to an econ major...)

All the schools on your list will be great options for both fields

I think Harvard has engineering.

You need to rethink your list unless you really want UMich. Most of the others are HIGHLY unlikely unless you failed to tell us you're a recruited athlete or multi million dollar donor.

Harvard most definitely does not have engineering.

hsseniorlooking, you might want to most definitely google "harvard engineering."

Bobby, Backfire gets to attend Michigan for less than $20,000/year. Most of Michigan's academic peers, like Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and Penn cost over $45,000/year. So it isn't very common for most Michigan residents to send their kids out of state unless it is for a schools like MIT or Harvard.

[Backfire] Have you considered applying to Carnegie Mellon (CMU) ? It offers top 10 programs both in engineering and in business. I believe the undergraduate engineering program is ranked #8 overall according to US News, with computer engineering in particular ranked # 3. The undergraduate business program is ranked, I guess, # 7 overall by US News. In the undergrad business specialties ranking, CMU is # 2 in the categories production/operations management, quantitative analysis, and management information systems.

you have 9 reaches and 1 safety (U of I)
