Need Some Advice!

I am currently a rising Sophomore at a top 20 university, and am considering making another effort to transfer. I currently have a 3.6 GPA at my school, and have leadership positions in many organizations on campus.

I applied to Georgetown last spring for admission for the upcoming fall semester, but was rejected. I was quite surprised by this, but figured that I could be have been because I took a very light course-load first semester Freshman year (I dropped a language after a few weeks, but was unable to get into another class, so I ended up only having 3 classes).

What I am wondering is if it makes sense to apply to Georgetown again, and also if anybody thinks that I have a chance to be admitted to the University of Virginia for either the spring semester or the following fall semester. Unfortunately, I am from Maryland, making UVA much more difficult.

Furthermore, does anyone know if it is at all easier to transfer in as a Junior than as a Sophomore?

Thanks so much!

Anyone? Just curious if anyone knows whether it is generally easier to transfer in as a Junior than as a Soph.

Bump............

I don't think it's easier to transfer as a junior v. a sophomore. I figure it's probably about the same (though I'm sure someone else can clarify this) however I do think it shows that you are still dedicated and interested in the school if you apply again. It certainly won't harm your chances

Thanks for the response. Has anyone here been accepted to a school as a junior that they were rejected to as a sophomore?

actually, from what i've been reading around on the boards, it all depends on whether you have strong HS stats. If your HS stats are good, then transferring as a soph (with good college GPA of course) won't be hard. On the other hand, if you have bad HS stats, then applying as a junior transfer might be beneficial because less weight is placed on the high school record.

Anyone else have any insight on this?
