Need some advice...

So I just finished my first year of college at university of maryland college park (woot!). Now for the bad news:

My dad recently got a new job with higher pay...so the EFC for next year rose to about...6-7000 i do not remember. Anyhow so we figured we could still handle it...until yesterday.

My dad was laid off yesterday. His position was abolished because there were too many people working (he works at an assisted living center). As of yet he is still unemployed.

Should I go ahead and report this to my college? Or should I wait a month or so and see if things improve (my dad has been sending his resume left and right)? Last time this situation happened, we ended up losing our house, so I'm worried about history repeating itself.

Report the lay off immediately. Send or fax a copy of the lay off letter which was given to your dad, if he does not have something in writting has him get a letter asap. This will give the college time to adjust your payments for next academic year.
