Need some advice

howdy,
I am a bit confused on what I should be doing to get a Finance related internship. I have been to the career center at my school almost every week and they are no help. I have posted to every finance related internship at the website, but not even one interview. I have been cold calling alumni, and I have not recieved any responses I am a junior and I dont have any finance experience. What else should I be doing because I know I want get a job after graduation without some finance experience. Also I am doing anything wrong?

First, decide on where you want to work, what type of company you want to work for, and pay level. For example: Investment Banking Boutiques in New York with no pay.

Second, you have to do research. Find all the companies that fit the criteria. Find out their websites and see if they have a formal internship program. If they don't get a contact number. Another way to research is typing the company name and internship. For example: Bear Stearns internships.

Third, make connections. Even if it is the secretary that you have to cold call. Have him/her looking for internship opportunities for you. Any experience is better than no experience. Make sure that someone at that firm sees your resume.

Also, make sure you cast your nets out wide and don't jump at the first thing you get because you may get a better offer.

FYI, you are at an advantage because you are a junior.

Hard to believe alum are not calling back. What school do you attend?

Texas A&M and I recieved a email today from an alumni today

How are your grades and extracurriculars? Are you sending in cover letters? Is your resume good?

I have a 3.5 Gpa but I dont have good extracurriculars because I work 25 hrs a week to help pay for school is this somehow a neg?

3.5 is pretty good and you should mention in your cover letter that you work 25 hrs a week and stuff. i'm not sure why you're not getting anything...what school do you go to and do people usually get jobs from the career center?
