Hey y'all.

It's my senior year next year and I've completed all my requirements with my planned courses. However, I'm not full time in my spring semester and I want another for fall if I can find a good one. Any you-need-to-take-these-before-you-graduate classes you guys wanna suggest? I'm not just looking for easy- if it's a challenge, it's fine. I'm looking for good profs or good classes.

I'm getting my BA in RCAH, BS in Anthro, and a minor in bioethics. I am shooting for graduate school in disaster management.

My current schedule for fall/spring is:

Fall:
ANP 489 Anthropology Capstone
GEO 435 Geography of Health and Disease
PHL 344 Ethical Issues in Health Care
RCAH 291 Creative Workshop: Digital Photography History, Techniques, and Practice

14 credits

Spring:
RCAH 492 Senior Seminar: God and the Environment
ZOL 141 Introductory Human Genetics

7 credits

Thanks :D

Drop ZOL 141 like it’s hot. From what I hear it is a horrible class and the only prof that teaches it is not well liked by anyone. Genetics is not exactly an easy class but the prof makes it hard. The things I’ve heard about that class make me, as a zoology student, not want to take it. If you need it for a science class look into Plant Bio. Also avoid BS 161, it’s not horrible but it’s not awesome either.

How about some HDFS classes? I’ve heard the ethnic families class is fun and the personal finance class is useful. Personally I would recommend ANS 282, it’s really easy and not bad if you like animals.

Other classes I’ve seen good things about: BUS 491, AMS 240, COM 225, COM 100, LIN 401, Eng 232, PLS 140 (I had it, kind of cool), and EPI 390. Also don’t forget about KIN classes.

I’m in the same boat as you though, I need a one credit class for the fall to be full time. Preferably easy because I’ve got lots of fun science classes.

I know the warnings behind ZOL 141. Unfortunately, I need both the credits for my BS (need 1 more credit of nat sci) and many of the programs I’m looking at require a genetics class. There’s a reason I put it off til senior year haha. I already have credit for BS 161. If I decide not to apply for a program that requires genetics, I’ll definitely look into plant bio.

Hm… I’ll definitely look into those. I won’t take a KIN class because I’m not going to spend $450+ for a gym class haha.

Did you look at AST 101? I’ve heard it’s a breeze.

The ratings for it look pretty good. I just checked though and one of the required classes has just opened. Going to have to keep that in mind though, might not be too much knew info but whatever.

Ok so I found out that degnav lied to me and HNF doesn’t count as a nat sci credit (grumble grumble).

Anyway, Humanoid, I’m enrolled for ZOL 341 online this summer and I assumed I would drop it but now I’m not so sure. Have you taken it? Either online or in class? It’s interesting, but it seems daunting considering I haven’t taken bio since my soph year of high school (took the AP test).

I’m taking it over the summer in the classroom. I’ve heard it’s easier online but it’s not going to be a cakewalk. If I were you I’d look at khan academy and maybe brush up on bio.

Took your advice. I’m now taking GEO 402 in the fall and MMG 425 in the spring. No more genetics. Still at 7 credits in spring though lol.

Good luck on those classes! I can’t say I know anything about them.

Other classes I’ve heard that make good fillers are PKG 101 and HB 409/411. I’ve also heard that some of the TE classes are kind of fun. If all else fails maybe throw a foreign language class in there.

Depending just how much you need credits ZOL 316 (Parasites) is open. IDK, might be kind of fun and I’ve heard it isn’t horrible from some people.

I can’t find the edit button! CJ 110 is a good class too. It wasn’t too hard when I took it, just study the few cases you need to know.

You can’t edit after 20 minutes :).

My boyfriend is a Educational Studies minor so he’s taken a lot of TE classes. They’re almost identical to our RCAH classes about education. I would love to take some of them but I feel like I’ve already experienced all of it haha.

The parasite class honestly sounds really creepy.

I will look into the other ones you’ve mentioned. I already have credit for CJ 110.

I already went up through SPN 330 and I’m highly proficient in Spanish (studied abroad in Costa Rica/Panama). But I absolutely hate the Spanish courses offered. They’re mostly literature classes. Although taking a Latin (do we even have those??) or Italian class would actually sound really, really fun. I would love to learn either of these languages. Great suggestion! (ETA: Crap. 101 for these is only offered in Fall. BLAH!)

Also I’m enrolled in EPI 390 now. That sounds like fun but I gotta make sure it works with work schedule (stupid 4 day/week classes lol).

I seriously looked into getting a geo minor haha. I could almost swing it but I wanna try to stay as close to 12 credits as possible in my spring semester to save money.
