Hello!
I am currently a senior at a highly rated High School in New York. I'm feeling very hopeless about my chances of getting into college. Right now community college is not an option I would see myself being happy with. I have about an 83.4 average unweighted, which I understand to be around a 2.9 GPA.(Not sure because my H.S. doesn't use a 4.0 GPA scale) I have taken 2 SAT's and my highest composite score is 1770/2400. I am taking another SAT in October as well as an ACT. My grades have been on an upward curve throughout High School, and I have taken 3 AP's.

I am heavily involved in many clubs at school, and I have taken 4 service trips to Central America through a club at school. I would prefer to go to a big school, out of state. My desired major is International Relations, and my dream school is University of Colorado-Boulder. I have also been looking at Indiana University, U of Georgia, Ohio University, Ohio State, and Michigan State. Do I have any chance of getting in?
Any other suggestions of schools I have a chance of getting into? Financial Aid will not be needed.

You might also look at UDenver, although it’s a little small for your tastes. At both UDenver and Boulder you’re a little below match but not so much to be concerned about. If your CR + M come back at 650 each I’d think you’re in pretty good shape for all these schools.

With your GPA and SATS you aren’t actually that bad compared to national rankings. Try looking at UMASS Amherst, though it’d be a bit of a reach, its a great school and it tends to dish out a little money even to out of state students. Also look at San Fransisco and Alabama. I don’t think you have to worry about community college, especially with your APS and SAT split. Good luck!

Your SAT will have to increase by about 100-130 points to make you really competitive for the schools on your list.
For international relations, I’d suggest looking into Goucher, UMaryland as a reach, American as a reach (they’re need-aware and that SAT would have to go up tremendously), Hobart&William Smith.
