Need some help with Study Abroad in Germany

Hey all,

Basically fall semester is approaching quickly, and I will be in my junior year. I am an International Business and Information Systems Management double major. This coming spring (Jan/Feb-April/May) I really want to head over seas and I'm extremely set on going to Berlin. The main problem is I'm having extreme problems finding a program that can fit my needs and that offers a lot of business courses. Basically most of the programs that I am finding are at the Freie University in Berlin.. which they don't offer many business courses.. or at least not enough that I could go to that particular uni. Can anyone recommend something for me? The only other program that I found that matches pretty good so far is at Mannheim Uni. I really am set on Berlin but just am not having much luck.

I also just thought about considering an internship. Does anyone know much about this?

Thank you so much for your replies. I appreciate it so much.

I think you may find problems finding a suitable programme in Berlin unless your German is good enough to participate as a normal student in the general classes. FU-Berlin is the main place in Berlin for business but just outside is Potsdam University which also teaches business and might be worth checking.
But I really just wanted to say Mannheim has a fantastic reputation for business and is really worth considering. I teach at a British university and send my students there on exchange and am impressed by the teaching, facilities and organisation (much better than most German universities). My students say they are good at helping you find internships too as German companies regard Mannheim as the best for certain subjects - business being one. It’s not Berlin but my students seem to enjoy themselves there.

Thank you very much for your reply. I will be sure to check out the University of Potsdam.

As for Mannheim, I am looking more into it and trying to match up some courses that I need. I’m going to head to my university today and hope that I can get the program approved and possibly I can go straight threw the University itself if need be.

Does anyone else have any more suggestions?

Why not really focus on learning German? It’s one of the world’s most important languages and having fluency (or high conversational ability) in German would definitely be a plus for a business/mis major.

There are plenty of schools. If you want to find German schools in Berlin, check out [Language School Links Homepage. Links and Contact Info for Over 1,000 In-Country Language Schools Worldwide.](http://www.languageschoollinks.com)

You can also google “Deutsch als Fremdsprache Berlin” and should come up with some good choices.

If you go to a German university there should be a few choices:

German universities offering business classes in English
German universities offering business classes in German (you have to have German proficiency)
International programs via US (or other) universities that are specially arranged and offer classes in Englis
