My father, my grandfather, as well as my great aunt and uncle, all attended the University of Pennsylvania. I was wondering what my chances are of getting into this prestigious university if I early apply come junior summer. As a side note, I am top 5% of my sophomore class in a top 5% school. How much will having a legacy help me during the admissions process? Thanks in advance.
You mean apply come senior year right? Apply ED and you’ll have a great chance given your legacy status.
Legacy only counts in the ED round. Very precious hook!
At Penn legacy only helps during the ED round so if Penn is your absolute first choice and it appears affordable then I’d apply ED.
IMO it is impossible to chance any applicant at a college which has an acceptance rate of under 10%, It is particularly futile to chance a sophomore with no standardized test scores and just one full year GPA. Also keep in mind that Penn has holistic admissions so when the time comes non-academic factors such as your essay, ECs, recommendations will also come into play.
Also please don’t post the same question multiple times. If your original post falls to the second page you can move it up by posting a comment that says “bump” or “any other answers” or something like that.
Hello. I am currently a sophomore at a top 5% school in the United States. My class ranking as of right now is top 5%. My extracurriculars aren’t fully developed yet but they are fair. Some of these include that my team won the regional competition for the National History Bowl and is going to the national competition in April.
