Because of some trouble with my family I'm looking to transfer somewhere on the east coast. After a lot of searching I found 11 schools that I really like but I would like shorten the list to a more reasonable number(somewhere around 6-7). My major is computer science if that helps at all.
The schools are:

Umass Amherst
Umass Lowell
TCNJ
NJIT
Rutgers - New Brunswick
UPitt
Temple
Stony Brook
UB
Purdue
UMBC

what state are you a resident of?
What’s your current GPA and what college are you attending?

I’m a student at California State University:Northridge but I’m a resident of New Jersey. I’ll be a sophomore this fall with a GPA of 3.817

If it really makes a difference, Purdue isn’t on the East Coast.

Thanks! I’ll give penn state a second look too but i’m not sure how much aid they give. Also i’m curious as to why you didn’t recommend ub or amherst. I was under the impression they were both very good for the price*

Because of some trouble with my family

Will your family pay for you to go to an OOS public? Those schools aren’t likely going to give you much/any aid as an OOS student and a transfer.

Schools like UPitt would be pricey as an OOS student.

Pitt has merit aid, Temple does too, Stonybrook and UMBC are relatively inexpensive OOS.
Nothing wrong with the others. I was jsut thinking in terms of cost.
And you’re right, Penn State is notoriously bad with its Financial Aid.
Overall though, only #1-3 are likely to be affordable.
Your odds as a transfer are low, but some private schools have need based financial aid - Bucknell, Lehigh, Lafayette, Dickinson, WPI, are all within your area so you could try and see how much aid they offer.
Overall, you want either a strong CS program or an ABET program; for an ABET program, it doesn’t matter what school it is.
