I'm currently a freshman in my first semester at a STEM oriented university in the Midwest.
I've been here for almost 3 months now and thoroughly unsatisfied with my choice to go here in the first place and i'm beginning to question my rash choice in major as well.

I'm thinking about applying to a couple of out of state schools to see how much I can receive in financial aid and if they provide enough, i'll transfer.
However, that's exactly what concerns me. The schools that I have looked at offer limited financial aid to transfer students. I'm wondering if there's any chance of receiving merit based financial aid at all. I graduated with a 3.96 GPA and scored a 34 on the ACT during high school, but I'm not sure how heavily that is taken into consideration. My current semester GPA, if I manage to salvage my grades, will be a 3.56, which isn't that noteworthy (especially since I took mainly gen ed classes).

Furthermore, i'm not sure if I want to major in an engineering field. I want to spend a semester taking interesting courses and see where it goes from there. There's still a possibility in sticking with engineering, although i'm also looking into accounting.

I appreciate any advice tailored towards my situation. Thanks in advance.
