Hello, I wanna make this as short as possible.

I didnt do so good in HS, graduated with a 3.3gpa, no AP's, no honors, just a regular high school diplona. I attended CC for 2 years and have a 3.9 gpa and I want to follow petroleum engineering. I did a bunch of volunteer hours, got into honor society and others..

I just want to hear your opinions regarding my chances as a transfer for fall 2013 to the top petroleum engineering schools like UT, TAMU, etc..

I have currently completed chm 1/2, calc 1/2, and phy 1. And I expect to complete calc 3 and phy 2 by fall 2013

Please judge me as I need some thoughts

I currently live in florida so I would apply as an out of state, will that hurt my chances?

What does the transfer counselor at your CC have to say about this?

They have no idea about out of state universities… my college counselors are really useless in that department. They want us all to fo UF or FSU

Take a look at the first two years of the engineering programs at the universities on your short list, and do your best to replicate as much of that as possible where you are. If your CC offers an AS in engineering, you could use that program as your guideline as well.

If you are set to transfer into an engineering program at UF or FSU, you probably are prepared for a program elsewhere. Keep your grades up, line up people to write any letters of recommendation you might need, and apply. Chances are that you will have to pay a hefty OOS tuition & fees if you are admitted, so do plan an affordable in-state back up in case the money doesn’t work out.
