well one of my close friends really REALLY messed up her freshman year of high school, hanging out with the wrong crowd and getting terrible grades.
Her GPA for freshman year was a 2.4......really really bad
but she managaed to straigten up a bit her sohmore year and recieved a 3.2 for both semester but when you average them out its still extremely low because her cumlative now is a 2.8
but shes doing much better now and got invovled in sports and Extra curricular activites and has alot of leadership positions.....shes studying for her SAT and ACT this summer with the College partnership program and also with Wordsmart(harvard review) and I think she'll perform well on her tests, shes also signed up for couple of AP classes for next year and if she pulls her cumlative to a 3.5 or higher by her senior year do you guys think she has a chance for West Point or any of the ivy leauge colleges? or any colleges that are of high standards?

anything's possible. write a good essay, make yourself unique. you can't really tell just by looking at a gpa

i second that. i don't know how smart this girl is but if she scored very well on her SATs and really pulled her GPA up to around 4 just for this year, then i think colleges would be much more inclined to look at her recent stats far more than her freshman year which would clearly not be very indicative of her true ability.

thanks alot guys!

It is highly unlikely she'll be accepted by an ivy, but many good colleges are realistic.
