This may be a long read...but I need advice and help regarding transferring to a University as an undergrad. So here is my story...followed with questions.

In 2009 I went to a local non state University. I was doing great until something happened and I stopped coming to class. I became irresponsible and in the end I received 4 F grades since I did not take the midterm or the final in all the courses of the classes.

So then I went to a community college to go back to the university I did poorly at first semester.

At the community college I have also done poorly and later on...I decided to go to a different community college once more...

I have done very well at that community college, and then tried to re apply back to the university I have done poorly on to fix all the "F" grades I obtained.

Unfortunately they denied my application since I have done poorly at the first community college I went to, and asked me to go there and fix the grades.

I am currently taking 4 classes there, and am doing really well so far...but here is my situation...

I really want to transfer to UIUC as a Molecular and Cellular Major. I am considering taking one course which I have done poorly at the University since that course is not active in the spring semester and only in the fall (101 course).

Since I am taking a Pre-Cal course at this community college, the university I would like to transfer back to fix my grades does not have Calculus 1 in the spring semester either...nor do they have Biology 1.

What I want to do is transfer back to the University to fix my GPA there so then I can transfer into the state university I have always dreamed of going to. What I want to know is whether or not there is a point in going back to that university I did poorly in 2009, or do I have to go back there to fix my GPA ?

How would UIUC calculate my gpa if I have repeated a course I did poorly in at a different school ? A counselor at the community college suggested me to not go back to that university and complete all required courses at the community college instead and then to transfer to the school I want to go to. But wouldn't my GPA from the university I messed up at mess up my cumulative gpa? Or will it not if I retake all the course at the community college instead of going back there.
