I am a senior and am about to start applying to colleges. I was out of school for 3 days due to vacation. In those 3 days an essay was due for Dual Enrollment English (college credit) but i forgot. I just turned it in after. My teacher gave me a 0 and said it was late. The essays are worth %70 of the grade and that is the only essay this qauter.

Now i am for sure getting an E the first semester of senior year before applying to colleges. This looks very bad. Should i drop the course and take regular English 12? Idk what to do i am really worried.

I think you didn’t “forget” but you assumed the teacher would be ok with handing it in late. Ether drop the class if you can or have a face-to-face with the teacher and offer a genuine apology. Missing school because of a routine vacation is inexcusable but perhaps you can blame your parents.

I tried talking to the teacher. She pointed to the paper she gave us in the beginning of the year that if i have to leave somewhere that i have to turn the paper in early. She gives us this huge agenda marking due dates/homework for the whole year so i have no excuse.

How will dropping a class look?

Will the colleges see the E?

i would only drop the class if it gets the bad grade off your transcript. i’m sure your guidance counselor could tell you whether or not it will

I’m a freshman, but I would suggest dropping it ASAP, and btw, what is an E percentage wise?
