Need some suggestions for new schools

Good East Asian, IR programs
Would like it to be in Eastern U.S, but I am open to suggestions
Good internship opportunities
Helpful career center for job placing if decide not to go to grad school
Study abroad where financial aid transfers
Does not require SAT IIs
Want a city near by. (I want a job and also not to be trapped in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes you just have to get away with some alone time, ya know? Plus, I do not have a car.)

Yeah, I had to drop a lot of schools off my list because I can't take the SAT IIs. :( It is a long story, short version- couldn't get a Subject fee waiver, no credit card, cannot write checks. So Tufts, Wesleyan, etc are out. Anyone want to help? ^^

By the way, it is okay if the due date is 1/1, my common app and essay, recs, etc are all done. I just need some good schools :[

Always good to have a Plan B, eh? XP

Some stats if they are really needed:
4.0 GPA
7/400
1200/1890 on SAT I
URM- Hispanic
Some leadership. Plenty of clubs and community service

Thanks :]

try Boston College, U Penn, Harvard U, U Chicago(great choice and good finaid), Northwestern U

I'm pretty sure all those schools require SAT II's

And also, I'm pretty sure he would have a hard time getting into those schools

Boston University (College of General Studies)
Dickinson College
Gettysburg College
Sarah Lawrence College
Ursinus College

ok...um Syracuse U---def in
U Miami--in

I think NU doesn't for the program I am interested in, and are they even strong in languages, especially Eastern ones?

Also, I am a girl :)

Bumpity bump :]

I second the recommendations of Syracuse. In addition, you might take a look at the following:

Clark (a little weak on East Asian studies, but good international studies)
Bowdoin (SAT optional)
University of Richmond
George Washington

I think last year only 20% of Bowdoin students didn't send the SAT scores. So it will be reach.
But look at definitely look at Syracuse. I might be applying there also!

Sarah Lawrence - No SAT
Chicago - No SAT2

Why Syracuse exactly? Does it have a good East Asian language program or International studies?

U Wisconsin Madison. Veru good Asian studies and IR. Medium sized city within a few hours of Chicago with daily bus service from campus. You might get $$$$.

The only problem with UW-M is that it may feel too large for me. I go to an overcrowded high school, and I have found that may favourite classes are the ones with less then 25 students, where there are more discussions with the teacher and whatnot. Would I get that at UW-M? Or would I feel like a number? A drop of water in an ocean? O.O

It's up to you. You can be a number or you can get involved. Most advanced classes are under 30 with most language classes under 20 or so.

Syracuse has a great international relations program and study abroad in over 15 countries!! u should def check it out.

Syracuse is the home of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. It's a very good graduate program (sometimes ranked in the top 10 in the country) and the excellent faculty also teaches undergraduates. As bsb noted, there are lots of study abroad opportunities (although you would have to check out whether financial aid can be used for these programs).

I would not rule out Bowdoin (although it is probably a reach), because you have excellent grades and your minority status would be attractive to them. It is a wonderful school located in an attractive small city about 30 minutes from Portland, Maine.

Look at Kalamazoo College in Michigan. A great LAC in a city of over 200,000, and very close to a large public university (Western Michigan) so there are a lot of students around. Kalamazoo is renowned for its international and internship programs, and offers both Japanese and Chinese, I believe. It's also only about 2 hours by train from Chicago. It does not require the SAT II exams and accepts the Common App.

Here's the website for K College: www.kzoo.edu

Thanks for the help! Are all these schools either LAC or universities? Are any of them in the middle, such as Princeton and Dartmouth are? (Universities that mostly focus on their undergrads)

Also note that study abroad at Kalamazoo is paid for by the college and 85% of students study abroad.

Hm, interesting :P

Darn it. Syracuse's IR is great, but Japanese and Chinese courses only go to Intermediate/200 level. I want to reach advanced standing in one of these languages...
