Need tips for temporary triple

My D will be in a temporary triple in Anderson. I’d appreciate any advice from people who’ve been in a temporary triple or had a S/D in one.

I’m interested in furniture arrangements and dimensions, sharing built-in storage space, advanttages of each bed - lower bunk, top bunk, lofted bed, etc.

Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

I was in a triple last year and it wasn’t so bad. Although, I will say that I’ve heard some pretty bad stories on issues of space, cleanliness, and so forth. It all depends on who the other two roommates are, but generally what I’ve gathered is that if you’re uncomfortable with the way the room is setup, the room should be reorganized before your S/D and his/her roommates gets settled in.

Generally, the real problem space wise was that there were 2 closets and who would sleep on the loft. Someone had already gotten their earlier and “claimed” the bottom bunk so I had the choice between the top bunk and the high up loft. I hated the loft because it was higher than the normal bunk. I think last year we sort of made a tradeoff where I would use less closet space and I would get the top bunk along with more cabinet space.

Also, I noticed you said “temporary” triple but from what I remember that option was only given to us by second semester. By that time my roommates and I were too close to want to leave. Plus, if you do switch to a double, you will be charged the double rate which is $4663 from what I remember as opposed to the $3,300 (I think?) for a triple. Just things to keep in mind!

Dimensions – the only thing I can tell you is that a 24 inch TV worked out great for us.

Also, I’ve gathered that the students should hash out details on rearranging furniture and so forth. The last thing you want to do is act like an overbearing parent as much as you want the best for your D. No matter what the students are going to change their rooms around (we did at least 3 times haha) and it’ll all work out. Another thing that helped was that we were all very clean and sort of made boundaries on space… as I’m sure others did as well.

Tips – I remember washing the desks and furniture in the beginning so I had these clorox wipes that came in handy. Another thing was air freshener… I think that was a must for the room all throughout the year for 3 guys.

Hope this helped!
