Okay so I realized the UC deadline for apps is Nov. 30 and I'm kind of freaking out because I cannot access their online app! Could someone send me a link? I really really need to get started!

is the application for the UC apps even out yet? I thought it came out october. You don't need to freak out, its just like filling out a form. And the essays are not that long. All it takes is some revisions and good stats. Calm down.

are you serious?? ugh my classmate said they were already out and he is practically done with his. . well that take a lot of stress of me. i've been trying all afternoon figuring out how to get the online app.

You can start working on your essays now...the prompts are posted online at UCLA Admissions. It says the online application will open October 1, and the filing window is November 1 through November 30.
You are in great shape starting now...make sure you get a copy of your transcript in advance, because you will need it to fill out the application.

You won't be able to access it online and start filling it out yet. But you will be able to find the information that will be requested of you and you will be able to start working on your essays. In the meantime, start compiling your lists -- courses taken and where in the A-G list they fall within; the grades; start a list (if you haven't already) of your ECs with dates, hours per week; a list of volunteer work you've done with dates and how much time spent, and work you've done. If you have easy access to this info, it will be a breeze to plug it in once you can start filling out the application. Good luck!

my high school schedule was screwed up so filling out all of the classes was a pain. i did that on the last day b4 it was due and it took a looooong time! watch out when they ask for your schedule. do your schedule ahead of time.

haha I did it on november 30th too (but already did the essays in class as an assignment), don't stress out on the app since it doesn't take that long to fill out, plus its not like you get into ucla just because you turned in your app first, whats on the app is what it counts...

ahhh thank you! you dont understand the stress you have taken off my back

I... applied the day it was due... I wasn't even going to apply to the UCs but did it by impulse. Go figure.

i applied the day it was due at NIGHT. like 2-3 hours before the deadline. i also WROTE my statements that day. because thats how i roll. so yknow.

youll be fine.

Sure, you'll be fine in the end... you'll suffer in the meantime... will want to rip off your head... and then eat babies.

youll be fine.

emmeline you're such an optimist.

Emmeline speaks da troof! :O F'reals. The college application process has been completely wiped from my memory as a self-defense mechanism.

I started my app the moment it came out...and finished it 2 days before the deadline. Procrastination at its best. Friends of mine who turned it in hrs before the deadline ended up praying that the server, which was crashing, would come back on before the clock struck midnight.

i started and finished within 5 days of the due date (nov 30) and was fine... most people i knew began writing their essays around mid to late october... you'll be fine. the uc app is very straightforward simple (moreso than the common app imo)... calm down and have fun getting into all those ucs :)

but go to ucla (shameless plug)

i have to admit it was quite fun to get in UCs one by one, and since its like worst to best time wise you get like UCR first then UCI, SB, SC, then a while later SD comes(didn't get in so I was freaked out I wouldn't get in UCLA or Cal because I can't even get in SD but I got into both) and UCLA and Cal comes out on the last day of march so that whole day you'll be spending on your computer refreshing those 2 sites until they are up, this year Cal beat UCLA by 5 min for releasing admittances :)

Eh.. UCLA used to be mid March.

Ahh.. I remember doing the essays the night of and didn't get a chance to really proofread and what not. I got really  when they sent me an email next day saying something like: "it seems like you have a problem submitting the app, it's still ok to turn it in by the end of the week, December x."

how about teacher recs? if im applying online how do i get those in?

You will not be able to submit teacher reccs, unless they request them somehow. Go ahead and request them if you are applying for private schools, or just in general (since recc. letters help in the future!)

well I think you can sent the teacher reccs but I heard UCs don't consider them at all and its not required to have any...
