Need to decide: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or San Diego State?

I got admitted into both colleges with a declared major in Business Administration Marketing. I'm planning on also minoring in Journalism. Which school should I attend? I like both campuses and their locations.

I heard one is more of a party school so I would pick the other.

I'd go to Cal Poly over San Diego State.

CalpolySLO. I dont live anywhere near California but I've heard of its great reputation.

For a better business program & if you prefer to find a party any day you want, San Diego. For a better everything else, SLO.

I would go to SLO.I have friends at both, and have visited both. SD State may have a better business program, but SLO will be fine if you want to stay in Cali. SLO also have a student run newspaper and printing press on campus. San Diego also have MAJOR issues with over-crowding and students being unable to graduate in 4-5 years. I'm now sure what it is now, but their 4 year grad rate used to be 9%. But I do hear that the parties are pretty legit....

Parties seem pretty great at SDSU, but Cal Poly SLO seems to have quite a better national reputation.

SDSU might be better for business, but it doesn't justify Cal Poly Slo. If you plan on living on campus, Cal Poly is I believe more residential than SDSU might be. I've also heard that SDSU party scene is extremely revolved around frats and sororities so if you don't feel like you'd fit into that scene it may not help you in regards to a social life.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Yeah, I know SDSU has a very strong business program but CPSLO's is not far behind. I also want to be heavily involved in the school's newspaper so SLO looks like a good fit for that too.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

theillestboyee, my hometown is 20 minutes away from Cal Poly SLO, and I have a few close friends that go to school there, that I have gone to visit on the weekends during my first two years at my local community college. Cal Poly's atmosphere is very agricultural-based, the students are very career minded, and the parties, for the most part, are weak. I graduated from community college last year, and am now at SDSU, which kicks the crap out of my hometown. San Luis Obispo is a smaller city feel in comparison to San Diego, but I definitely enjoy living at SDSU. The parties are awesome, the girls are prettier compared to SLO, and I get all of my classes no problem.

It all depends on what you want out of your college experience, and I will admit, if you know your way around San Luis, it is an awesome city to live in, great sports bars, bars in general, etc.

Oh and another point is that Cal Poly is well known for its engineering programs, while SDSU is well known for its business program.

Okay so im in a VERY similar situation. i am currently choosing between Cal Poly SLO and SDSU and am majoring in business administration. I just put business as my major because im not sure what i want to really do with my life yet and i might want to change majors in the future. Im a very social city girl who loves to party but i want to take my education seriously and still have fun, but not TOO much fun. I’m open to both options and i’m visiting the campuses soon but i still have no idea which school to choose either.

Just so you know, SLO is well know for being difficult to change major (since you are unsure). You will be taking your major classes right at freshman year, as opposite to other school where you take GE for 2 years before major classes starts.
