Hey, ok my d has her heart set on attending either UT Austin or baylor but unfortunately she has only a 3.2 gpa at a public high school. I know this isn't enough to get her into either, most of her classes are honors or AP and she is the student body secretary and plays on the school field hockey team as well as countless voluntering hours outside of school. She wants to go onto law school but doesn't want to go too far out of texas for college, please can anyone suggest great smaller colleges worth looking at!!! :)

Austin College is worth a look - a fine Texas LAC, one of the “colleges that change lives” (read the book) acceptance rate 80+.

[Austin College: Sherman, Texas](http://www.austincollege.edu/)

I wouldn’t describe a student government leader who has taken mostly honors or AP classes as an “underachiever”! Does her HS counselor think that Baylor is out of range?
The schools that pop to mind for me would also include Trinity in San Antonio, SMU and TCU.

Texas public schools use class rank instead of GPA. If she is in the top 9% of her class, she may be able to go to UT Austin for fall 2012 after all.
