Need to find schools for Merit Aid

Hi, I'm currently a high school senior applying to college. I picked out several colleges that I love (both reach and safety), but now I'm really looking for colleges that will give me some sort of merit aid scholarships. (My parents make enough to where I won't receive anything from FAFSA)

Here is a little bit about me:

ACT: 35
Rank: 59/1342 (top 5%)

Extracurriculars:
volunteer work, editor for my school's newspaper, have had 2 different jobs, bowling, multicultural club, and a few more

If anyone could suggest some schools that will award me a significant amount of money, I would be so grateful!

*I live in Texas, but I'm really open to anywhere in the US.

Are you a NMSF? What was your PSAT?

What is your major?

Alabama would give you free tuition for your stats. Lots of Texas students there.

How much merit do you need? How much can your family contribute?

Go to the Financial Aid forum and look at the pinned threads for good options.

No, I’m not a NMSF and my PSAT was not very good at all!

My dad isn’t keen on paying for an expensive private school, so I’d have to take out some loans. He’s willing to pay for any state school or a school where most of the expenses are covered (hence why I’m looking for merit aid).

Thanks, I’ll look more into Alabama!

keep in mind that YOU can only borrow $5500 for frosh year, so you can’t cover the costs of a private school if you’d be expected to pay for much.

What is your major and career goal?

Here’s some info about Bama…

this is the award you’d get as long as you apply by the deadline (the app is super EZ…no essays, no LORs…takes like 5 minutes.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR

A first-time freshman student who meets the December 15 scholarship priority deadline, has a 32–36 ACT or 1400–1600 SAT score (critical reading and math scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Presidential Scholar and will receive the value of tuition or $99,800 over four years ($24,950 per year).

Being top 5% you’re assured of getting in to UT. That’s a fantastic fall back since your father is willing to pay for that.
