Need to fufill Cornell Distribution requirements at NYU

Hi everyone, I will be an entering student in the gallatin program @ nyu. I was on Cornell's waiting list for the ILR program and found out about a week ago that I was given a Guaranteed Trasfer, which means that as long as I take certain classes @ NYU, maintain a 3.3 and recieve no grade lower than a B I am gauranteed a spot as a transfer for the Fall of 2007. I am not sure whether I will be taking advantage of this but since i like to keep my options open I will fufill the requirements and decide whether or not to transfer durint the school year.

My question is, does anybody know of an interesting 'cultural perspectives' course? This course all gives students the oppertunity to compare various cultures.

or a "Western intellectual tradition" course? a course that itnroduces students to the foundation of Western poltical, economic and legal

Thanks alot.

Take a look at the MAP courses. Con West is like a history of Western thought course, and World Cultures or Expressive Cultures might count for "cultural perspectives". Check out the course descriptions and ask Cornell if they'll do.

Thanks, but since i'm in gallatin are MAP courses open to me? are MAP courses large lectures?

I know next-to-nothing about what Gallatin students have to take. You need to ask your advisor.

MAP courses are large - there's no getting around that. However, if you, as a Gallatin student, also have to take MAP courses then you can kill two birds with one stone. You can fulfill the Cornell transfer reqs and work on NYU required classes in case you decide to stay.

As a gallatin student i dont have to take any MAP courses, and the Conversations of the west is full anyway. So I guess I will be taking a history course through CAS.
