Need to get into NCSU... please i need your help

Im currently a junior, about to be a senior soon. but as my senior year draws near so does the registration for collages. My goal is to get into NCSU for business but the only thing stopping me from attending is my GPA and lets just say its not too good. Actually im not sure what my gpa is but i know its not good (hope it goes up by the end of junior year). I have an SAT score of 1800 and im taking my SAT 2's in October hoping that it will raise my chances of getting in. Also i plan on taking and receiving good grades in 3 AP classes 2 honors and 1 language next year. Yet, i still fear that this is not good enough. Is there suggestions on what i should do in order to advocate my chances of getting in at the early registration deadline? Please, i really need to get in. Help me out?

The D’s are going to hurt. Especially since some of them are in regular classes. To get into State, you need around a 3.8-3.9 weighted GPA. Unfortunately, yours looks closer to a 3.0 weighted GPA. If you really want to go to the business school, I would recommend transferring in after your freshman / sophomore year. Some alternatives that you should look at are UNCG, UNCC, ECU, and WCU. It doesn’t matter where you start out, only where you receive the diploma. :). (PS: I got wait listed with a 3.7 / 1960 SAT)

^Weighted GPA varies far too much to be a reliable mode of comparison.

I assume you’re in-state because of Civics&Econ, which will help, but likely not enough. As engineering-minded kids are either rejected from top tech schools like MIT and Caltech or have to stay in-state for financial reasons, State has become more competitive. With not only a smattering of Cs but a few Ds, I would make State your reach and look to less competitive UNC ancillaries.

Admissions at NCSU is to a specific college. Business is in the college of management, so the quality of engineering students is irrelevant.

What’s done is done–continue to do well in your classes, and make sure that you’re applying to colleges you know you can afford and your chances of getting in is pretty high.

GPA-weighting is standard in NC, and it’s often used as a “mode of comparison” in the UNC-system. It’s more important than the unweighted GPA.
