So I have a big problem. I start in 2 weeks and still need to get my books. I plan on getting my text books from amazon, but was wondering if there is another cheap good place to get them? I thought amazon would be the safe and cheap way to go.

Also for my western civilization class I got a good lists of books I need to get. Would it be smart to get a kindle and have to possibly wait until September 17 to get it? Since class starts September 6 for me I don't think that class will start off by having reading a book.

Not all textbooks transfer very well to the Kindle, plus you can’t take notes. You’ll want to check out the reviews for the textbook on Amazon before you buy it.

You could try renting your books also. I personally like to buy my books used from Amazon used sellers.

…Two weeks in til you get your book??? You will MOST definitely have to start reading by the end of week one, if not by the end of DAY one. This is college, not grade school. The first assignments are not “cover your books.” Sorry.

I’d buy your textbooks pronto. Even if you have to bite the bullet and pay a bit more for them now, it’ll be worth it when your professors all assign reading on the first week.

Renting is nice too, I use chegg.com every year, but it can take some time to get the books. I guess you could always have them sent to your dorm/apartment, but I’ev heard that can be risky. They are great at getting them to me at home, but can get lost when it comes to campus delivery.

They can even get lost coming to your home…as I discovered this year when one of my books ordered online got lost in the mail. I got refunded for it, but now I have to go out and buy one for about twice as much just so I have the stupid thing. Ugh. Though I think I’ll wait til after the first day of class to see the syllabus. There are 7 books for this class and if this is one of the last ones we use, I may just order it online again and spend a little less than at the bookstore; if not I’ll go buy it that day.
