Need to send transcript?

My son took one summer class at local community college. Do we need to have an official transcript sent from the cc to all the colleges he's applying to? Or do we just have to send official transcript once he's accepted?

Yes, you should, especially if he did well in that class. It certainly wouldn’t hurt his application and shows that he’s challenging himself academically by taking a college-level course.

Once he’s accepted, taking care of credit would be very easy once he’s on campus.

Can’t speak for the revised CA, but the old one had a statement under where you list college coursework that said to immediately send official transcripts.

Colleges that require transcripts for the admission application generally require them from any high school or college where the applicant has taken courses. There are some colleges (UCs and UIUC for example) which do not require transcripts until after you are admitted and instead have you list all courses and grades you have from all high schools and colleges in the application.

can’t hurt to send it.

When you apply for admission to a degree program at an accredited college or university in the US, you are obligated to provide official copies of your transcripts from every college or university that you have ever attended. No matter when. No matter how many credits. No matter where in the world.

Don’t lose the contact info that CC. Chances are that your son will need copies of that transcript again in the future.
