I got deferred ED for a top liberal arts college. The my area reader called me personally and wants me to write a letter explaining to her my grades in math and science, that were mostly terrible due to personal issues I had already explained, then speak about How i would improve my grade in those courses in order to fulfill distribution requirements. any one have suggestions or hear of this happening?

I would assume that the school is considering your application very stongly, but that someone has a question about the anomolous grades. It may be this reader, or someone else in the process who wants to see the explanation in your own words.

Look at it this way, it’s very easy for a top school to reject any student. Consider this an opportunity.

Definitely a good opportunity. If they didn’t care about you they wouldn’t have asked you to write the letter.

They want something in writing to put in your file. Make it convincing. Also, how are you going to improve your grades? Get a tutor, take summer classes?
