Need Transfer Advice... Again....

So I havent been on here for quite some time, but now I have a problem. This past fall I enrolled at Drexel University in Philadelphia as a transfer. IT DID NOT GO WELL. I had some family issues and long story short I ended up missing some exams and classes and ended up with a 1.16 GPA (12 credits) :( . I am so dissapointed in myself.

This quarter I've managed to pull my grades up quite a bit, but in order to salvage my GPA for Graduate school, I was thinking about transferring to Temple University in Philadelphia. I am just worried about my grades.

Temple U, has an agreement with the community college I attended, my GPA there was about a 3.6 (60 credits), I was also involved on campus in different clubs and Honor Societies. Now my overall GPA between Comm. College and Drexel is still a LITTLE above a 3.0, luckily. Temple says that their typical transfer student usually has a 3.0 GPA, will my chances be hurt since I had one crappy quarter at a new school? Any advice is appreciated!

You should be okay…or so I’d think. Most applications have a spot to explain any type of negative impact on your grades (family issues and such). I’d say give admissions a call and see what they have to say. Good luck!

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, are you transferring because of grades or because you didn’t like Drexel? It’s just that I was thinking of transferring to Drexel in the fall…

Thanks! I mean I still have a pretty strong cumulative GPA.

As for Drexel, to be honest its a little of both. I really want to get into a good business school and since I wrecked my GPA at Drexel, that is going to be a problem. But the environment isn’t really for me. Because of the quarter system you are constantly going going going, and I just want to graduate (im 22), and I don’t feel like spending an extra year just to do an internship
