Need transferring tips

I’m currently a freshman student at Emerson College and I’m a marketing communications major. I never really liked Emerson College but it was the best school that I was accepted to after applying to colleges in High School. I thought I would give Emerson a chance and Marketing a chance but it turns out that I really don’t enjoy either. It feels like torture sitting through classes and I don’t vibe with the people here. I even play D3 Soccer here and I don’t enjoy it that much. I’m working hard in my classes to try to see if I can try to transfer soon and my goals for schools is probably USC, NYU, Northeastern, Boston University and I want to major in economics or finance. I didn’t do very well in high school. I had around a 3.0 GPA and 1900 Old SAT score. I know I should probably wait till my 2nd year to transfer but what are my chances of getting into those schools if I do well in my first two semesters of college and try to transfer first year. I know my chances will be higher waiting till 2nd year but it feels like torture being at this school and learning about something I find really boring.

From what I know, if you try to transfer in as a sophomore they will factor in your H.S. stats (huge factor in their decision). 3.0 GPA and 1900 SAT probably won’t cut it for a business major. But, feel free to throw out applications just in case? I highly recommend talking to a counselor at the school you’re currently at.

You have a solid chance at Boston University and Northeastern if you find the time to retake the SAT and kick butt in your classes.

Otherwise, you should indeed transfer after your second year.

I agree with TransferStalker – I think you should wait. Colleges will want to see a full year of grades (if not more) to redeem poor high school stats.
