My admission at UCSD is being reviewed for cancellation because I did not complete the visual/performing arts requirement in thge a-g coursework. I said in the application that I would do it in the second semester of my senior year, but I then planned to take it in the summer, as I thought that would be ok. I have not taken the art course, and my admission is now in serious jeapordy. I plan to write an appeal while it is reviewed. Does anyone have advice about similar cases with the A-g provision not met? I have good sat's(2300, 1540 sat II) and gpa, though 2nd semester slipped a little(couple c's,b's). Will I most likely be denied, and what can I do about it?

why are you jeopardizing your application by not taking the art course??

You said you would do it and you are expected to do it. Summer is half over; is there still a way for you to take it this summer? If so, you should be okay. If not, I suspect your admission offer will be revoked. There are plenty of students who follow the rules they've agreed to follow, so I don't think appealing will make a difference.

the problem is that the course was supposed to be taken before graduation. I signed up for online art courses but I doubt they will count because it is post graduation anyways. A-G are pre graduation requirements. I said I would take it but I thought I could take it at UCSD and i found out I was wrong.

i think the point of it being an admissions requirement is that you have it completed before you arrive on campus. if they can't manage to enforce these rules (and yes, i'll admit that art is a silly one -- but that's because i'm a hardcore scientist), then what would be the point of having admissions guidelines?

Show them that you're taking the online art courses.

Yes I wrote a letter exlaining why I didnt take it during the year and included a description of the art courses I'm taking online.

bump anyone have any similar stories or opinions of what might happen, im extremely anxious about this

Not exactly the same story, but I have a similar one. I took an art history class at the local community college about 2 years ago as my only visual/performance art class for the A-G requirement. I ordered a transcript around July 1 but UCSD has yet to receive it. I got really anxious like you, but I never got a call/email from UCSD regarding any sort of admission cancellation. But I was still really worried, so I called the Registrar's Office and talked to a representative. She told me to send another transcript and that I should be OK. She made some sort of note on my records saying that the first transcript was lost in the mail or something, and that the second one is late, but is acceptable.

The Registrar folks are really helpful so you should give them a call if you haven't already. I hope your situation gets resolved soon!!! Good luck pal!

It's time to stop communicating by email. Call UCSD admissions and/or the registrar TODAY and ask to speak to one of their admissions officers (Jaime Valesco would be a good person to speak to in the admissions office). Explain your situation, listen carefully to what they say, and go from there. In particular, ask if it would be possible to delay your start until the Winter quarter and make up the work in the meantime - I don't know if they will consider that as an option, but unless you are actually talking to a real live person, you won't have the answers you need. Good luck!
