Hey guys. I was an international but got rejected from my choices, so I will be going to a top 10 uk university this fall. I also got waitlisted by Brown before being rejected.

I plan on applying to brown, Cornell, Upenn, UCB, UCLA, USC, stanford and maybe a few others

Is there anything I should know or should start doing right now?
Are my chances of transfering to Brown better since I was waitlisted as a senior?

This is what I have gathered so far:
Get in touch with my professors and try to stand out
Retake my SATs and SAT 2's (previous scores were 2050, 620/610) (poor I know)
Get involved in ECs, maybe do research work with professor

Is there anything else I should do to increase my chances?

Thanks.

My best advice is devote yourself to some kind of organization that isin a field of interest to you! That can be as a researcher, a volunteer at a non-profit, an internship - seriously, anything you are interested in. READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! IT HELPS! Becoming involved and being able to write about those things is very important! Also, be sure to focus on your essays this time around. Make them strong and unique. Be as creative as you can! … But be sure you answer the prompt too!

For example: I am a double major in Neuroscience and Public Health. Why? Because I have read a million books on the brain. From Mapping the Mind to the Psychopath Test, and I am truly fascinated by what it means to look inside the brain and to understand it. As for public health, I am strongly involved in a few activist organizations devoted to sexual health and health equality. I’m also Pre-Vet. Why? Because last summer I sat with a cat in the rain until it died after being hit by a car. It reminded me how much I love animals, how innocent and beautiful they are, and how I could make a difference for them.

If you can show a university why you are passionate and have real examples of that passion, you will show them how you will fit in on campus. If you can do that, you’re golden!

Good luck!
