I have completed the official ACT Red Book, the PR 1296, and the ACT introduction packet test, and now I have a score of about 32. However, my goal on this test is a 34 at least, and so I have dedicated myself to further studying to achieve my goal. I just went to the Barnes and Nobles and got these three books:

1) Barron's ACT Math and Science workbook
2) Barron's ACT 36
3) Princeton Review Cracking the ACT 2009 edition

What do you guys think of these books? Do you guys think investing my time into these books will prove to benefit me?? I can still return them if you guys say they will not help me.

Books can only go so far… to an extent, the ACT tests years of knowledge and you may not be able to raise it up to a 34. A 32 is very respectable. Go ahead and keep studying/ The more practice the better, but don’t be disappointed if you don’t get 34, but if you do, Congrats!

I guess, I normally make very stupid mistakes and need more practice than anything else. I know I have the intelligence quotient to achieve a perfect score…I just need the right resources??

I heard Princeton has a good guide out there [which you have purchased]. But as Harvard said, the best thing to do is practice! I’ll be taking it for the first time next year and would love a score of 32+ !

Harvard1009-I appreciate your response, however, for someone who is a prospective student at Harvard you should know that Pakistan isn’t in the middle east, it is in the Indian subcontinent. Maybe now, you are a centimeter closer to acceptance?

Manu101- Yeah I already finished that book pretty thoroughly, but, I guess it wasn’t enough because I am having trouble actually scoring high.

Does anyone else have any opinions about these book I bought?? Has anyone even used them, and saw results?

Harvard1009-I guess you are correct.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the books I just bought from Barnes and Nobles???

My Brother used Barron’s ACT 36 and he got a score of 34, but he’s pretty smart. If I can remember correctly, he studied two weeks prior to the actual test date and crammed through Barron’s. Next year, when I will hopefully be taking the ACT for the first time, I plan on using that book. And I would agree with Harvard on the username, it’s a tad bit off-setting. But hope that helps and good luck!

Anyone else have any opinions? So far so good! ( I am not going to change my screen name for anyone. Maybe I should change it to NuclearAmerica1??)

I personally wouldn’t use barrons. From my experience with those books, as well as their other ones for SAT2’s they weren’t similar to the tests at all whcih was unfortunate.

I have a question about your screenname! Was NuclearPakistan taken? or did you just like the 1?

hahhaa my brother’s ■■■■■ was NuclearPakistan lol.
