Hi Friends

Now I am confused between US and UK universities, I applied to the top 10 in US and got only into Purdue, for Engineering.

I also applied to Sheffield, Bath, Cardiff in UK for Civil Engineering and got into both, now I dont know what to do. The Uk courses are 4 years Masters v/s Purdue 4 years BS

Need whatever help possible to take a decision

Thanks

Hey there. Does cost matter to you? If so, choose the UK. You’re getting more bang for your buck, but I don’t know if you’d be too comfortable being the cash-cow for your institution (schools here are DESPERATE for non-EU kids). Plus, the facilities at even Oxbridge aint all that, so yeah. I don’t know too much about those schools to comment any further.

Good luck!

US will give you alot more flexibility in case you want to change your area of study . Also it is getting very difficult to find a carer in Europe and work rules are getting tighter all the time. Best of luck .

fromsingapore is right in that they have recently tightened the rules here in the UK on students being able to stay on and work after they have finished their studies. (Through the visa system.) So although you would get a perfectly respected Masters degree form the 3 you mentioned you may not be able to organise any post degree work in th UK. If that’s not an issue then choose which you can afford and which ever course suits you best.

Courses in the UK give very little options outside the main subject so you will be spending all 4 years on engineering and the related subjects - Maths etc. No LAC smorgasbord options of minors/majors here I’m afraid.
