Generic :-
Indian - Currently living in Dubai , UAE
I have done my entire high school in Dubai , in an Indian curriculum school

I may not be one of the most intelligent students but i am an average student .

I Plan to do a double Major in IR/economics and Mechanical Engineering .

According to my stats - I can get into most of the good Universities but will not get any scholarship . - This was according to Bev Taylor ( Ivy success counselor)

I have 7 cousins of mine who are currently in America but are done with their universities and all of them are in top companies (PWC (price water .. ) , Ford etc .. at top positions) . They have suggested that I first go to some average university and then transfer to an IVY (this was what most of them did .. one of them graduated from YALE )

My parents are ready to pay the full ride for the universities where I will get in But I dont want to waste their money

But as stated by my cousins the first 2 years are just basics

They told me to look in to Minnesota State University - Mankato
UMN - Duluth

So that I can do my first 2 years here and then transfer .. the total fees for me will come up to 20,000 $ .. Everything included (international student)

Are there such universities which are good .. good prestige level .. prepare me well for my major .. not so expensive city .. ?

Depending on what you mean by a good school, that’s a pretty risky strategy. With Harvard and Princeton taking no transfers, chances of transferring into Yale or any ivy really these days is slim, especially from a 3rd tier school.

That said, Cal Poly is a good suggestion for a school strong in Engineering that costs under $25K for an international, with much better weather. The SUNY schools are also about that price.

I really can’t say anything about economics and I don’t know what your grades are but here are all the “top” schools for mechanical engineering so you can look up these schools and find out if any of these have good economics programs too!

I am sorry and can u also arrange them in increasing order of full fees … for international students. . and more of lower ranking universitites as well

I am sorry If i come across as a lazy A**hole … i am sorry its just tht its 4:42 am over here and i have and exam at 9:00 am …i have got to take some rest …

I hope u dont mind …

this is not specifically to pierre0913 … thank you all .

CC is much Better than college counselors in the US charging 500 $ per hour . *for me atleast)

Here are the schools that should fit your criteria (and acceptance rate, tuition cost not including room/board), sorry too lazy to put in order haha

Georgia Institute Of Technology (61%, $25,182)
University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign (69%, $26,024)
Purdue University - West Lafayette (72%, $23,224)
University of Texas–Austin (44%, $27,760)
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (70%, $34,560)
California Polytechnic State University–San Luis Obispo (34%, $15,213)

“I am sorry If i come across as a lazy A**hole … i am sorry its just tht its 4:42 am over here and i have and exam at 9:00 am …i have got to take some rest …”

Do you really need the response within the next 24 hours? CC really isn’t your personal, free researching database.

Rose-Hulman isn’t too difficult, if you’re grades are fairly good then you can likely get in. Princeton Review gives it a 91 selectivity index, which is comparable to Penn State UP, if that means anything to you.

Pennsylvania State University–University Park (51%, $24,940)
Virginia Tech (65%, $21,488)
University of Minnesota–Twin Cities (53%, $14,634)
University of Wisconsin–Madison (53%, $21,818)
Texas A&M University–College Station (70%, $22,184)
Ohio State University–Columbus (62%, $21,918)
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (44%, $39,165)

I am sorry … I may not be good enough to express myself … I do not mean to use anyone … Do you think I am just going to leave CC once I get into my university (God knows which 1 ) … I am sorry … but please do not judge me … If you would have read my other thread Inthe SAT preparation .
you would understand the pressure I am facing at home … specially my parents … I have a lot of my own problems

Trust me on this 1 …

I am again sorry If i have hurt any1’s feelings (I Love u all )

My feelings are totally not hurt, sorry that I was a bit rude. You definitely seem pressured and stressed (now that I’ve looked at your other posts), so your somewhat frantic-nature makes a lot more sense. See my response on your other post.
