Hey guys. I tried posting a couple days ago but I did not get a lot of response. I took a practice SAT and I got a realy low score, 1600. I am trying to find the best way to boost up my score. I'm taking the test in Jan.

Has anybody used Kaplan? are they good?

I also found this webinar while I was looking. Does it seem legit? I wanna sign up but I'm not sure.

I saw someone on this forum mention testbeast.com - I signed up for an account a week ago and have noticed my scores in practice tests going up considerably. I would give that a shot before buying a product.

Aside from that, I’ve used the Princeton Review books and they also worked okay.

If you truly have the discipline and dedication needed to get a high score, then I would highly recommend doing as many practice tests as possible.
Blue Book is a must (Official SAT Study Guide), and once you have gone through all of its practice tests you can find more college board tests online (somewhere on this forum).
You really don’t need to do any of those programs because from what I’ve heard they don’t really help at all and are a waste of time.
If you think you’re disciplined enough to study on your own just by taking practice tests,
then just set a goal for yourself to take 1 practice test each week or every other week. Then focus on what you missed and on your weak areas.

I unfortunately did not have the discipline to do this, so what I ended up doing was taking a local summer intensive SAT course. It was something like 4 hours a day three days a week for 8 weeks (w/ a practice test each week). It wasn’t anything like the Princeton Review or Kaplan courses though. So if you’re like me, I would definitely recommend finding a local program like this that is considered “summer intensive.”

There’s nothing wrong with prep classes as long as you take the right ones

Kaplan is pure GARBAGE. Do not waste your time with it, it will eat your money.

If you want a good prep course, I advise Capital Educators. They’re in the DC/MD/VA area and they’re pretty good. I think they might have an online option as well.

I took it for about 10 weeks. Although I was already scoring 2200ish, I needed that extra push to get me to 2300. No matter how much prep I did, i couldn’t master the writing section.

After capital, I’m pretty sure I aced it on my December 1st SAT. I’d definitely advise them, although they are a bit expensive.

I did the Prep Course + lots of self studying = 2300+
