Need your info for acceptance turn around... :)

Ok…

Many are wondering what the turnaround is from application to acceptance…

So…

When did you apply (month/approx day)?

What date do you think UA received your scores and transcripts?

When did you get your acceptance?

How were you notified? snail mail letter?

BTW…getting the email with your CWID and logon info for MyBama to apply for honors programs and to set up email is NOT an acceptance.

BTW…another reminder…Don’t wait until you are accepted to apply for scholarships - the deadline to apply for scholarships is in 2 weeks! Apply for scholarships AS SOON AS you get your logon info by email - usually a few days after UA has rec’d your app.

Also, if you want to apply to Fellows or CBHP, and you haven’t received your acceptance in a timely manner, contact the Honors College and ask how to proceed since the Fellows app is due in a few weeks. CBHP app is due beginning of Jan. And…you must apply to UHP, too, in order to apply to CBHP and/or Fellows.

BTW…does anyone have any idea of how many people UA has working processing applications? Just wondering.

I have images in my mind of people sitting in front of rows of computers with reading glasses on top of their reading glasses looking at tiny figures and lists of college prep courses with bottles of Excedrin near their keyboards. Then, of course, you have another group, going through paper apps and paper transcripts.

If you haven’t rec’d your acceptance yet, could you post your application date and the dates that you think UA rec’d your transcript and scores.

:)

And one more thing… :)

If you applied for scholarships…

When did you apply for scholarships?..

And when were you notified of the award?

Here is the timetable for my ds:

[ul]
[]Oct 13 – Applied online.
[]Oct. 15 – Received CWID by email.
[]Oct. 23 – High school transcript was received.
[]Oct. 26 – Admissions office sent email saying ACT score had been received. However, this score did not show up on pending application.
[]Oct. 30 – Received email saying application was incomplete. The only thing missing was the ACT score, which we knew ’Bama already had. He emailed to explain this.
[]Nov. 2 – Admissions emailed back to say his file was now complete.
[]Nov. 4 – He was admitted. He did not receive an email about this; a letter arrived by snail mail a few days later.
[]Nov. 4 – Submitted scholarship application.
[]Nov. 9 – Awarded Presidential Scholarship via snail mail letter.
[]Nov. 10 – Awarded supplemental engineering scholarship via snail mail letter.
[li]Nov. 14 – Received snail mail invitation to Capstone Scholars Day.[/li][/ul]
He has not yet submitted applications for Honors College or University Fellows.

^^^^

Oct 13 - applied

Oct 26th (Monday) - UA had all your son’s info (stats, app) :)

Nov 4 (Wed) - Son admitted 10 days after UA had all info.

Nov 4 (Wed) - Son applied for scholarship (Did you purposely wait to apply until after acceptance? For those reading this, time is now running out, so don’t delay to apply for scholarships - you don’t want to miss the Dec 1 deadline  )

Nov 9 (Mon) - Presidential received 5 days after app (Congrats!)
Nov 14 (Sat) - Engineering received 10 days after app (Congrats!) (Total award for both is about $90k)

So, it seems like the biggest factor is when the school receives the transcript and scores. But, once they get all these things (and they know that they have them  ), it only takes about 2 weeks

Glad to hear that your son got the invite to Capstone! :)

No, if I recall correctly, we were waiting for specific information about some of the scholarships. The application lists quite a few and asks the student to indicate the ones to which he intends to apply. In some cases, ds wasn’t sure whether he should check the box or not.

Here’s my D’s timetable:

June - SAT/ACTs sent to UA
July 21 - On-line application sent
Sept 8 - Scholarship ap sent
Sept 21 - Transcript received at UA
Sept 26 or 27 - Acceptance Letter arrived
Sept 30 - Presidential Scholarship/Engineering Scholarship letters received
Early Oct - Received Capstone Scholars day invite
Oct 24 - Honors Ap sent - no reply yet, but know she is in because of scores.
Still has to send in Fellows Ap.

Have another D at Bama, and it was this fast when she applied!

^^^^

Wow! you applied early!!! July 21st!!!

Congrats on everything - acceptance, scholarships! Does she know which dorm she wants to be in?

I know that one of my son’s friends applied early like that and got his acceptance within a few days after UA rec’d scores and stats! That’s nice to get such a quick turnaround once the school has all the info. :)

Your DD will surely get her honors college acceptance soon. If not, call Jami Gates and ask. (didn’t someone on one of these threads comment that the Honors College had some kind of printing issue? Or am I remembering wrong. LOL )

^ yes, when we spoke with Jami Gates last Tuesday (Nov. 10) she said the letters were set to go out soon but they were having some trouble printing the essays or something like that. Not to worry. :)

Thanks, mom. Yes, we are very pleased with the scholarships at Bama. Older DD is on Presidential scholarship and we are relatively certain that younger DD will follow suit. The extra engineering dollars are a real plus! She has applied to several other schools, but I think UA will be the one :-)

Thinking that either new Ridgecrest South or Riverside will be the dorm of choice. Thanks for the info on the Honors notification timetable.

Oct 20 – Applied online.
Nov. 4 - Applied for Scholarship.
Nov. 12 – Was admitted and did not receive an email about this. Found out thro added features on the myBAMA.
Nov. 15 – Submitted Honors college application.
Nov. 18 – Letter of acceptance arrived by snail mail. Awarded Presidential Scholarship via snail mail letter. Invitation to apply for Fellow Exp by snail mail.

I am National Hispanic Scholar, waiting for other “goodies” to arrive, I hope.

Just curious, where on my Bama did you find out you were accepted?

SMS…

As a National Hispanic Scholar, do you have to “name” Alabama as your chosen school? When DS was a NMSF (in the fall), he first was given the Presidential. But he got the rest of the award (I think) in the spring after being named NFM and he “chose” Alabama as his choice of school.

Does National Hispanic work the same way? Do you have to let Alabama know that you’ve “chosen” them to get the big award?

Pegv420,

Under the Academics tab, I noticed the “The Honors College” option got added and maybe “admitted Undergrad Students” option. The other thing is that I got a bama email account setup. I started browsing thro other options, looks like I got admitted but was not sure till I received the letter in the snail mail today.

Mom,

For NHS you don’t have to declare or “chose” your choice of school, you just have to apply. Before I applied, I received a certificate from UA that “spelled” out all the “goodies” I’ll get if I apply.

SMS, thank you. Because of your message before, I started poking around and found I could make a deposit now which means my daughter is in as well! Congratulations to you as well.

ahh…very good.

Has UA told you when you’d get the official statement of the big scholly?

Congrats!!! :)

Are you going to UA? Have you visited? :)

Peg…congrats to your DD!!! :)

When will you visit? :)

Mom,

Thanks. They have not but I’m in no rush. I still need to get my CBHP application together. UA’s scholarship package is the best by far. I am waiting for other offers to come in and make my decision then. I still have to submit my UC application, keeping my options open. My parents want me to go to UA but my 1st choice is Barrett’s Honors College in ASU closer to home and I might get to room with my buddy. But, you never know…I really appreciate your postings to influence me to even apply to UA.

^^^

I hope you get to visit!!! Let us know if you do! :)

And, good luck to however everything works out. :)

once accepted when do you have to notify UA of your decision?
